Gut feeling? That is code. And it has never meant time will tell.
Thanks for the insight. It may be as simple as the coaches seeing Green as something special. What is your take on Green's commit timeline?
“Those who stay will be champions”
― Bo Schembechler
Not THAT type of gut feeling.
Sam has been wrong before.
I actually don't have an opinion on his timeline simply because I don't have a feel for his recruitment. But I did feel that those who were expecting a commitment from him this weekend were surprisingly optimistic. I think they got caught up with all the details (i.e. Dawson's tweet, Meyer rescinding scholarship, Green deciding to extend his stay, etc.).

Do you know what Gut feeling means?
Yeah, just a week ago he was talking about visiting for an Auburn game as well as taking an official there. Him committing this weekend would have been a complete change in his plans.
True. But Sam gets much of his info from directly inside Schembechler Hall. When he is wrong, it's usually because something changed not he just guessed wrong. And he never uses the term "gut feeling" when he is giving a prediction. It means he has been told something.

Not this time. When read in context, it is clear that SW is not using the term gut feeling as code for "Green will be committing to Michigan." All he is saying is that he thinks Green will be Blue. He's just offering up his opinion.

Looks like Mich fans may get lucky if Bryant flips to Auburn. Cant see Green coming with 2 RB in this class
11 National Titles | 42 Conference Titles | 3 Heisman Winners | 78 All-Americans | 37 College Hall of Fame Members
Yeap, Gut Feeling = UM beating up on ohio again.
I didn't hear exactly what Sam said. I am just going on what the OP wrote. Sam is very careful. He uses the term "gut feeling" specifically in certain situations. He doesn't use that term when he is only giving his opinion or prediction. Or at least I've never seen him do that in the past.
It's between us and Auburn IMO
I think our persistence wins us Green.
We are college football
Exactly. I didn't read the quote directly from Webb either, but if he used the "gut feeling" phrase then it's significant. He only uses the gut feeling when he's very sure about something. And he also has a very high success rate about gut feelings. He offers his opinion about many things in Michigan recruiting, but his gut feelings are not the same thing.
we definetly made a big jump with this visit, things are looking good.
I don't know. If he did not commit today, we have our work cut out. I am not sure I understand the 'hidden meaning' with SW's comments. Green said himself today he is nowhere near a commitment essentially. A lot can happen from now till NSD. I will reserve judgement till I hear SW on the radio tomorrow.
Is he still in AA?
Don't think so, change of plans.
The day prior Green said he wasn't sure whether or not he would commit. So why is everyone taking these new comments as definitive..
You'll drive yourself crazy if you follow individual recruits daily. They're impressionable kids with out of control hormones. Things are fluid and what might seem logical to us doesn necessarily compute in the mind of a teenager.
I've already checked out for the 13 class. If we finish as is, great. If we land Treadwell and Green, even better.
agreed, we definetly have our work cut out for us and i didn't mean it looks good as in an immediate commitment. I do feel though that we made a significant jump up his list and have made ourselves strong contenders. Anything can happen in the next 6mo but i think we'll be there till the end and will have a very good shot to land Derrick.
WRONG, GREEN WILL COMMIT TO MICHIGAN TODAY. YOU FLAMER
I'm glad trolls have the unspoke rule that they will create weak usernames and always use all-caps when trolling. It really makes it easy to identify.
Why do fans feel the need to mention recruits on Twitter related to things that will just annoy them?
247sports "published" an article this AM saying D. Green (@BrOoKyLn_boii27) had committed to #Michigan. They've since pulled it! #pathetic
@jcshurburtt @JoshuaHenschke. JC, it's your "credibility" not mine!~ I'm not Derrick Green (@BrOoKyLn_boii27), No need to apologize to me!

@rineer07 @JoshuaHenschke @BrOoKyLn_boii27 My credibility is just fine but make sure you drag as many folks into your rant as possible.
@jcshurburtt @JoshuaHenschke @BrOoKyLn_boii27 my "Rant"? Saying "don't apologize to me, apologize to the athlete" is a rant? Whatever bro!
