I don't care where we finish at this point. As long as we get Treadwell, this class will be amazing. For all I care they can bank the 24th scholly for 2014. Just give me Treadwell.
Note: I hope everyone knows the minute we get Treadwell all this goes out the window and I'm gonna want another.
treads would put this class over the top! that said its always nice to grab another top guy
actually rankings is a big factor for some recruits. its a good recruiting tool. a lot of kids don't want to play for teams that are not bringing in top classes. you can sell having the #1 recruiting class to kids. Some kids that got interviewed on why michigan is in their top 7, 5, 3 etc is because they are bringing in the #1 class on top of everything else that michigan offers that you already know. kids want to team up and play with the best. if we get the #1 class for 2013 we can sell that to 2014 kids and let them know where bringing in the best.
Have a feeling that Taco and Wormley are going to be 2 to watch closely at Michigan... Mixed reports on both... Both are BIG athletes on the DL but the haters seem to say both look like tarzan and play like jane... I am thrilled that they are both coming to Michigan because I think they are those Carlos Dunlap/Calais Campbell type DEs... Not rated as high coming out as those 2 but similar production would be nice.
Where Twitter meets potential NCAA violations -
Laquon Treadwell @SuccessfulQuon
Anybody got a rivals account i can use? Let me know Please !

Edit: I realize a $9/month account is not going to be a major violation, just pointing out how the tweet was opening the door for fans to easily commit a minor violation.

Both are athletic freaks and with Michigan's DL coaching, I wouldn't be very worried.
This is Michigan, fergodsakes.
As long as a Michigan player/alum/student doesn't give it to him.
Not only that, but the national exposure on tv that comes with having a top class is invaluable.
exactly what never lose hoke said. as long as they are not affiliated with michigan its all good. cant be coaches, alums, boosters, basically anyone employed by the university or donates money to the university.
correct. especially espn rankings. even though they are the worst out of the four recruiting sites the kids like espn the most because of the big name and they all want to be in the espn150, plus they get exposure on espnu. having the #1 class cant hurt. its always nice to have as an extra recruiting tool. treadwell just asked about rivals which means hes on the site right now. the first thing you see when you scroll down on rivals is team rankings and michigan is #1. i think that's huge mentally when you go to sites and keep seeing a school at the #1 spot.

IMO we'll have a few guys get bumps tomorrow. Prolly Lewis and Butt for sure and hopefully Shane. Can anyone think of anyone else that might?
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
did 247 announce that they are updating rankings tomorrow?
ESPN I thought...saw it on twitter today
You are correct.
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
just read Luginbill's tweet. looks like shane and butt get a bump. treadwell and lewis stay the same
How the heck does Lewis stay the same? He deserves a bump if I had to only pick one, imo.
cant agree more
That's what Luginbill tweeted.
Tom Luginbill @TomLuginbill
@atrainbelew Treadwell is exactly what we have thought. Same with Lewis. Butt sees a jump.
well guys I asked luginbill yesterday if michigan players were getting a bump on the new rankings. He replied with yes, shane morris is. Now that can be viewed two ways. Shane is the only player rising or that he is rising much higher and other players may get a small bump.
Did anyone see anything else?
Lewis is ranked the 11th best cb in the entire class. I'm the biggest Jourdan fan but how can anyone argue that he should jump any of the 10 guys ahead of him especially when I'm sure no one has been keeping tabs on those 10 guys as much as you have Lewis. He is the shortest of the top 11 with wiggins, I think that says a lot. Kid is a four star, 6 pts behind the highest rated corner. Not every UM commit will be rated the best at their position but regardless we all know we are getting a baller whether he was a 4 or 5 star, so does it really matter?
I've seen that, but don't see how it can be true. It opens up way too many loopholes if these kids are allowed to take money from people who aren't in those categories. You could find fans of a school who didn't go there and don't donate money and have them take a recruit out to dinner and pay the bill?
If they aren't affiliated with a certain school than there is nobody that the NCAA can punish. And besides, if a friend gives it to him it's completely normal. I know people who share rivals accounts.
Yes, having the #1 pays dividends in recruits perception of UM and the momentum we have but let's be real. No fan who is checking on where the class ranks or why player x isn't rated higher is asking those questions because they want kids to see us do well, at least that's not the main reason. The main reason is fans want to win the mythical title of having the #1 class. That's why folks champion the likes of shane and others to get a higher star because folks want the class to have more 5 stars or more 4 stars so we are more likely to have the title of #1 that lasts in folks minds for a week. So dont dance around the topic by mentioning the sides, we all know the steak of the topic here.
Lewis got beat by bigger receivers alot. Certainly held his own, but certainly has issues going against some of the higher ranked guys
A friend giving something to somebody counts as a pre-existing relationship. If a random Michigan fan with no official ties to Michigan gives a recruit $$$, it has to be different, right? If a random person walked up and gave him $1000, you're right, there is nobody to punish. If a random dude in a Michigan shirt did and he ended up picking Michigan, that would be a violation, right?
