One is trying to be a gun slinger, while the other was a game manager.
Man, when this MSU running game can't get 1 yard on two consecutive plays, including a 4th and 1, they're screwed. Andrew Maxwell sure as hell isn't going to win this game for them.
Maxwell sure throws an ugly ball.
3 ints and 0 TDs for Maxwell.
Aaaaand right on cue, Maxwell throws his 3rd interception of the half at the goal line.
Maxwell not looking so good.
I thought they had a veteran offensive line because the Boise State line is getting great pressure.
Maxwell is not doing well at all, and the OL doesn't look great either. Bell and the defense look good for MSU though.
tRCMB is already calling for Connor Cook (backup QB) to come in the game
Yeah. I get the feeling though that if Boise had Kellen Moore they would be up by a couple Tds at this point
O-line is not helping him at all.
Maxwell is trying to do to much. If he just settles down and runs the offense I think MSU will be fine and pull this game out.
I say run the ball 100% of the time and then yeah...anytime Boise brings pressure there is no telling where the ball ends up. Young QBs have to learn somehow, but with Boise being able to weather the storm of the opening drive, looks like MSU might be in for a little more than any of them bargained for.
Their offensive line is just letting at least one free rusher through on every single play. Boise doesn't even have an amazing defense or anything - they're good, but not elite by any means. Maxwell is going to get beat to crap, and their running game is going to fail at inopportune times (3rd-and-1, 4th-and-1) thanks to the inability to prevent penetration.
The problems go beyond Maxwell looking like a true freshman.
I've seen the free rusher get through on all pass plays, but only during the 4th and 1 run stop did they not get positive yards because the TE didn't block down. Anytime Maxwell stepped back to pass, someone was in his face. Boise lost a lot of size up front and MSU just doesn't look like they can do anything with the pressure on passing plays.
What made Boise thing they could get 2 yards running the ball on 3rd down?
sparty offense outside of bell lookin fuckin terrible, not gona matter if the d is great if they can't score and constantly give the ball away
Yep. Looks like Bell is getting stronger now though. Boise is missing more tackles.
This team is going to go as Bell goes. God forbid he ever gets hurt, their offense will be non-existant.
Msu is going to have trouble against any team that can slow Bell down.
Ughh. Boise QB has to dive head first there.
agreed, either way there's no way he'll be able to carry them like this all season. Once they get into the B1G season he'll get killed carrying the ball 40-50 times a game.
