I have been listing to so much crap . That Wisconsin and sparty will win there division .. didn't they both lose a lot of starters and whats up with sparty losing all there WRS and there favored Omg that's funny
Wisconsin doesn't have much competition now. It would take a pretty big let down for them to not end up in the CCG.
Sparty is a different story. They honestly believe the last 2 years means they will win the CCG and go to the Rose Bowl this year. Hell some of them even think they are legitimate national title contenders. They feel Dantonio can take any player in the country and make him good.
Well, until Michigan actually steps up to the plate and beats MSU... I don't see why they should not be favored. They won the division last year until someone takes that crown from them they should be favored.
Players graduate and leave. It's not the same team. I don't understand this thinking.
A bold person might say that losing your starting QB might cause problems. Although not for Dantonio since he has turned every single recruit into a superstar. Or something like that.
Who cares what MSU thinks. They are not worth my time. Wisconsin? They are lucky their division is in shambles.

You do not 'favor' based on the past, but future rosters.
I'm tired of seeing Wisconsin in the rose bowl .. come on Blue .. this is your year
Speaking of MSU's player development, maybe I'm just out of the loop but what about Lawrence Thomas gaining close to 60 LBS in a year and a half? Is this normal? From what I've heard most of it's muscle mass. Does this happen often?
Thats fine, im just saying until Michigan beats them I don't think it's crazy to assume MSU is the favorite. Just because they lost Cousins and their wideouts does not mean there not going to be good this year, They still return the nucleus of an oustanding defense and Dantonio has built them up to the point where they can asborb those losses(Cousins etc) and still be really good the following year. MSU is going to be good this year and anybody thinking they won't are kidding themselves, even if they don't win the big ten title this year then I expect that they still will be in the running for a BCS at large bid this year and I think they will probably end up getting it .
What's funny to me is that some MSU fans use this same type of "logic" that Michigan fans just used in this thread when discussing Michigan's basketball team as if losing Douglass and Novak are going to somehow set us back and keep us from being better then last year, it won't. Both fanbases just refuse to come to grips with reality, it's actually quite funny at least in my mind.

I don't think it's unrealistic to think MSU will lose to Michigan and Wisconsin on the road. I don't think it's far fetched that OSU will beat MSU in Spartan stadium That would basically eliminate them from any bcs bowl considereation.
They are not losing all 3 of those games, I would love to see it happen... but it's not going to happen. I don't see MSU losing to Wisky. Wisconsin will be facing an MSU team that is either going to be coming off their 5th straight win over Michigan carrying alot of momentum going into the revenge game against Wisconsin or Wisconsin will be facing a pissed off MSU team that just lost to Michigan and still remembers the sting of last years Big Ten title game loss. Bad news for Wisconsin in my mind.. I don't see OSU beating MSU in Spartan Stadium. They have not lost a home game in 2 years and I don't think Urban will be the coach to do that in Year 1 of his tenure.
The games that I actually think might be dangerous for MSU are ironcially the 1st game of the year and the last game of year Boise ST and Minnesota(Yes, Minny potential letdown game for Michigan as well) The reason I say Boise is because first and foremost they thrive in these situations, nobody knows who they really have on their roster and most people assume they are going to have a down year because of all the people they lost. Something similar happened back in 2009 with Boise when an unheralded guy by the name of Kellen Moore came into Autzen stadium up at Oregon and they put a pounding on Oregon. I still expect MSU to win this game, just that I would not be surprised if it's closer then people think. Minnesota probably seems like an odd choice, but just hear me out. MSU plays them the last game of the year at Minnesota on Senior Day, MSU struggled quite a bit with Minny last year at home and I bet Minny has that game circled on the calendar as one they felt got away and they improved quite a bit as a team by the end of the year, again not saying MSU will lose or that it's likely just that I think those 2 games im intrigued the most by looking at their schedule even moreso then OSU and Wisky believe it or not.

I happen to disagree. I think they lose all 3. MSU hasn't beaten an above average squad on the road in a while. I don't see that changing this year.
Unfortunately I see OSU being much better this coming year with Meyer as head coach. I think their D will be back to being really good and the offense will be much better than it was last year. I expect a pretty big step foward from their offense. Now to talk about the MSU game in particular I just don't see how MSU is going to score much. They couldn't score last year with Cousins and all the WRs they had. I expect MSU O to take a step back and have a hard time seeing how they will score enough to beat OSU this year.
The reality is Sparty had a couple of good years and now it's over. If happens every 20-25 years. They will not win the B10 this year. They will not win their division this year. And, yes, losing your 3 year starting QB (who also is the best QB you've have in 25 years), your top 3 WRs and #1 TE (all multi year starters), a first team All B10 OL, the best DT in the league and a couple other significant contributors all at the same time matters. It would be a challenge for Alabama to lose all that at once and MSU doesn't have anywhere near the talent or depth as Alabama.

Hate to break it to you but MSU is going to continue to be a good program as long as Dantonio is coaching at MSU, I think some Michigan fans need to come to grips with that the man is a oustanding coach with a great staff. Just because Michigan is really good does not mean MSU can't be good as well, the success rate of both programs is not intertwined like many people think. If I knew you personally, I would put money on MSU going 9-3 or 10-2 in the regular season this year.
Will see about OSU this year... I have no doubt they will be a force again with Meyer at helm but I am not as convinced like alot of people are that they are going to take this big step forward as a team in Year 1 just because Meyer is their.
Dantonio. That man deserves no respect from any Michigan fan, player or coach.
I wasn't being serious. I do think the Spartan fans are a bit delusional to think that he can come in and totally replace Cousins though. At least not in his first year.
I just can't imagine your O not taking a significant step foward with Meyer there this year. It was beyond bad last year(except against Michigan). Miller is going to be good in Meyer's spread. I have no doubt about that.
You will be suprised how much better your OL looks with better QB play.
It pains me significantly to say that i think OSU is going to be a much better team this year.
Recruiting classes for MSU are already falling off. Talent eventually will win outright. The tide has turned.
Same to you. THE GAME this year should be a great game.
They never recruit well "star wise" that is my whole point. Guys like Worthy, Johnny Adams, Denincos Allen, Isiah Lewis, etc... these are guys who were not that highly rated or guys that Michigan even recruited yet all are very good football players. I think people get way to caught up into "star rankings". It's important no doubt there is a direct correlation between winning national and conference titles and high recruiting classes, but it's not the end all be all this is not an exact science. Finding guys that fit what you want to do and developing them once they get on campus is just as important if not more important and Dantonio excels at that. I don't see that changing. What im happy about and what other Michigan fans can take solace in is the fact that the staff Michigan has in place now appears to be able to do both which is rare, and is what the truly elite coaching staffs and programs do.
Good post. Of course QB is a big question mark for MSU until Maxwell shows he can get it done, but he's been in the program for several years and appears ready to take the job. And in basketball, UM has a great class coming in and a top point guard so they should be as good as last year once they get some experience.
Personally, I find it hilariously ironic to hear any Michigan fan run down MSU by saying past wins don't guarantee future success...
