So when his contract through at this point? Anything can change, but seeing him extend a few more years makes me very happy. He's getting up there in age, and as much as he loves his job, I imagine that he's also thinking about retirement in the back of his mind. But, then again, competative guys like the big time coaches don't like to walk away from the game.

The extension will keep him with the Wolverines through the 2016 season.

No, no, no, you have it wrong. Mattison is just a plain ol' bad coach. Didn't you notice that the Ravens didn't win a Super Bowl while he was there? It was totally his fault. It totally wasn't Flacco or the offense or anything. He took Lewis, Suggs, and Reed and drove that D into the ground.

I think Greg Mattison is 63 or 64 years old so he will be 67/68 when his contract expires. I think he can and will stay a few years after. He loves Michigan and wants UofM to be his last stop. Go BLUE!!!

As long as he is healthy I don't see why he wouldn't be around another 6 or 7 years.

I am not sure, I think he has the desire to coach more (speculation from comments over the past few years). It may depend more so on the other assistants gaining enough responsibility to take over DC. Who do you think would be in line to be the DC as of today?
