Classless Duke

Then how did the dad hear it, multiple players hear it, others in the crowd heard it?

Doesn't it make sense to you that Duke people would come out and deny it to protect the cookie cutter image? This isn't the first time this has happened at Duke either.

I can neither prove it nor disprove it.

If the Cameron Crazies did shout "How's your Grandma?" when Tyler Lewis stepped to the FT line, I would be disappointed and disgusted.

But I really don't care all that much. This incident will be a footnote in this college basketball season's history. And people will take from it what they want. In general, Duke haters will use this as evidence to justify their hate while Duke fans will begin showcasing their hilariously overblown persecution-complex.

Both contingents are subject to confirmation bias.

Sorry Frank but my ex is a teacher at Duke and was at the game and that is exactly what they were saying. People can try to spin it whatever way they want, but it is complete bs. I give Lewis a lot of credit because if I were him I dont believe that I would have been able to keep my composure.

And I had two friends at the game. According to them, they heard "Past you bedtime."

So there's that. Who should I trust? Your ex or my friends? (This is meant to be purely rhetorical.)

But I always laugh at "_______ fanbase is _______" comments (like the one Clark made). The actions of some do not reflect on most.

People rush to generalizations. Unfortunate but true.

For instance, I like Duke University and I support Duke athletics. (Michigan takes precedence.) Clark's comment hardly applies to me.

This is by no mean a personal attack against you. We all know how much you like Duke and realize how difficult it is for you to be unbias here. I have no dog in this fight unlike you. I dont like or dislike Duke just thought it was in very bad taste. Also it makes no difference to me who you believe.

My cousin is a NC State fan, was at the game with her sister who is a Duke student. They heard i as 'grandma'.

Just reporting what I am hearing...I have no idea.

  • It's unfortunate that this (non)incident is overshadowing the great offensive performance from Duke's basketball team last night against an in-state conference rival.

I think Coach K should once again exert some control over the Cameron Crazies. When he speaks, they listen.

  • For what it's worth, in the video it sounds more like "past" than "hows" to me. I don't have a hatred for Duke but I don't like them either.

It doesn't make zero sense, I just don't think every change has to be labeled good or bad. And no I do not have kids. But when I do I'm not going to raise them in an Amish household with no TV's and video games only after they do their homework and pray by the fire. Liberal media is not an excuse and it's entirely independent of parenting, but it's unavoidable nowadays. My main point is that, to generalize and say kids are losing their values because of parenting is just not the full truth, and certainly not a fact. It's an aggregate of a number of things, there is not one sole factor changing people's values, nor is there a means to measure any of it. But in my opinion, the mass media is the primary influence because of how dependent our lives have become on it.

Now let's stop this bickering. catfight

Sure .... get back to me when you have some kids.

    Very well put.

NC State guard Tyler Lewis' grandmother passed away last week. When Lewis stepped to the free throw line, Duke fans began chanting "Hows your grandma?"

Getting called scUM and ttun never bothers me, but Meatchicken has to be THE stupidest name ever created. I get it, if you say Meatchicken fast it sounds like Michigan. But it's not even an insult. It doesn't make any sense.

I love when they refer to us as skunkweasels. I think it's hilarious.

  • My brother was at the game with my cousin who goes there. They 100% were chanting "How's your grandma" or whatever.

Most of the people had no clue what the chant was about, but chanted it anyway.
