NCAA: Ohio State faces failure to monitor charge | Buckeye Xtra Sports
In a signal that tougher penalties likely loom, the NCAA has notified Ohio State University that it is facing a charge of failing to monitor its violation-plagued football program. Failure to monitor is the second-worst finding the NCAA can impose on an athletic program. OSU announced the NCAA finding this afternoon in the wake of a series of scandals afflicting its storied football program.

Since it says they will meet with the Committee on Infractions December 10th in Florida, that means another 6-8 weeks after that before penalties will likely be announced. Pushes it right up to signing day potentially, which is seriously going to hurt them. No coach will likely take the job not knowing the penalties, so they are in a tough spot if they aren't retaining Fickell.
