I am from the area where this happened and Dymonte's name was never mentioned. Some possibly drew the connection because the citation happened in DT's hometown of Alliance and some likely because of some apparent beef between our two institutions?

Throwing a 17 year olds name into a police report is about the most ignorant thing someone can do on the internet.

  • Ohio State freshman running back Bri'onte Dunn will not face drug charges after a complete review of the police reports, supplemental narratives from officers, witness statements and about a 30-minute police cruiser video, the Canton Repository is reporting.

Alliance City Law Director Andrew Zumbar has authorized the filing of disorderly conduct and a seat belt violation charges against Dunn and a passenger. Dunn also faces a tail-light violation.

“Based upon the content of all the evidence reviewed, I made the decision to authorize the minor misdemeanor disorderly conduct instead of the drug possession because throughout the entire (traffic) stop Bri’onte Dunn is consistent and denies the paraphernalia and the small amount marijuana are his,” Zumbar said. “The paraphernalia was not found on him.

“His statement is consistent that he denies possession of the objects. He was polite during the entire stop. Otherwise his demeanor was unremarkable in terms of his conduct.”

We will bring you more as this story develops.

    Zumbar in the pocket...LOL

Can we all move on now?

The charge isn't "ownership" it's "possession" of marijuana. So, in Ohio, all you have to say is it isn't yours to get the charges dropped? Seems to me if you're driving a car with MJ in it and you get pulled over you are in possession. Or your passenger is in possession. It certainly can't be your mom who is in possession because she's not in the car.

ALLIANCE — After a complete review of the police reports, supplemental narratives from officers, witness statements and about a 30-minute police cruiser video, Alliance City Law Director Andrew Zumbar has authorized the filing of disorderly conduct and a seat belt violation charges against Ohio State freshman running back Bri’onte Dunn and his passenger. He will not face drug charges.

Dunn was stopped late Saturday night in Alliance driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus that is registered to his mother, Donna Hatcher. Police found a minute amount of marijuana in the car as well as a marijuana pipe.

“The paraphernalia was not found on him.”

McKensey Cross, who was the passenger with Dunn, will receive the same charges as Dunn. Cross is a freshman soccer player at Urbana University. They are both GlenOak High School graduates. Dunn will also be charged for a tail light violation.

Zumbar reviewed the reports and video with Alliance Police Chief Scott Griffith. The charges will be filed Wednesday when the investigating officer returns to Alliance.

“His statement is consistent that he denies possession of the objects,” Zumbar said. “He was polite during the entire stop. Otherwise his demeanor was unremarkable in terms of his conduct.”

The law director has the final determination on what charges to file. Dunn’s mother, Donna, arrived at the scene of the traffic stop, Zumbar said, and said the minute amount of marijuana was present in the vehicle previous to Dunn using it.

I have no problem with the police reducing it to a disorderly conduct charge, but at least call it what it is. The charge was reduced to keep two college athletes on the field. It has nothing to do with disorderly conduct or with the fact that the pipe and weed belong to his mom. Was she charged with possession? I don't think so.
