Brady Hoke Question??

You do realize Charlie Weis won a Coach of the Year Trophy as well right? That is not a very strong argument. The rest of your response is very well thought out though.

  • Can they please do a play where the toss it to Fitz on a sweep, Denard rolls out to the opposite flank and Fitz throws it back to Denard? Denard can run or throw if someone is wide open....these type of arcade plays are easier to execute, because throwing behind the line of scrimmage mitigates the possibility of interceptions...also, lets see a simple reverse. I remember the in the Carr days you could always anticipate 1 reverse per game to Terrell, or Braylon

I agree....the point was that saying Hoke has a COY trophy is not a very good argument considering the fact that both Ty Willingham and Charlie Weis won COY trophies as well.

I doubt Hoke would have ran that HB pass where Vince Smith threw a pick. And honestly that probably would have made a MAJOR difference in the outcome of this game if that pick didn't happen.

    Just saying..

How do you know? And how do you know he wouldn't have screwed up some other play (or plays) Borges was calling if he was micromanaging every play call. If Hoke believes he is a better play caller than Borges, why isn't he calling every play? I listened to Dantonio after the ND loss and he said he made a mistake by moving more to a passing game when they were getting 3-4 yards per carry on the ground. He said he got impatient and if he could do it over he would have stuck more with the original game plan. OCs are not perfect, but neither are HCs. There is no reason to believe Hoke would improve the play calling by stepping in here and there and changing a few.*

    * This reminds me of the movie Amadeus when the king stepped in and told Amadeus to edit down one of his operas because the piece had "too many notes". He told him to "just take out a few". Just because Hoke has the power to veto Borges' play calls doesn't mean he should. Borges prepares all week to call the plays and, unlike Hoke, is focused soley on that task. If he is not doing a good job, Hoke should replace him. But there is no evidence that the offensive play calling would be better if Hoke wore a headset and changed a handful of play calls every game.
