Blazevich keeping U-M in the mix

Charlotte, NC (Charlotte Christian School) Four-star tight end Jeb Blazevich has plenty of great offers early in the recruiting process. Blazevich weighs in on Michigan inside

  • Well just look at the APR ratings for tOSU if you want to see academics in action. I find it laughable that the kid says he is really concerned with school when he has Clemson, LSU, Bama, and FL on his list. Where is ND and Stanford?

FWIW APR ratings can easily be inflated and aren't really a great way to compare a school's academics. If a kid is truly interested in academics than I would think he would compare the actual university rankings and not APR JMO.

Florida is one of the top ranked academic schools in the nation....do you homework

ND and Stanford haven't even offered yet and he hasn't heard much from both of them so they aren't even in the picture at this point. Bama is the only one he listed that he doesn't have an offer from yet but he thinks they could be really close to pulling the trigger. APR ratings really have nothing to do with the quality of academics at the school.

  • I know, it just is fun to point out when a particular school is well known for its academics like TSUN yet has poor APR numbers. You can spin any way you want. This kid is a talent and needs to be in a TE friendly offense.

Once again, solid APR ratings do not equal good academics and vice versa.

Well, considering I have a freshman in HS now, the last rankings that I saw by US News and Report did NOT have the Gators in the top 50!! Again, any large public university is worthy of a college education so don't misconstrue what I was trying to say. I am sure FL might have a particular specialty they are known for but please dont say they are one of the top

No but they might point to a system that values preparing young men (especially student athletes) for the real world by getting them to finish their education and graduating. Hey, your school is top notch and probably better academically than tOSU but I am proud of what Tressel started and in general what the largest student athletic department in the country has been able to establish in terms of strong APR.

A TE friendly offense? From what fan bases of other schools have told us, we're going to "love" the way Borges uses his TEs when the full transition to a pro-style has happened. And why exactly are you on this board bragging about your school? This is a Michigan board, after all, and I don't think ANYBODY cares to hear about your school's "academic achievements."

I agree that it "might" but if you were to look at APR ratings, you would see that teams with coaching changes tend to have low APR ratings because of the transfers after coaching changes. Also to your other post, Florida is a solid institution, they are second academically in the SEC, only to Vandy. According to USNews, it's ranked #58, far from awful.

  • @buckeyefaninMI- Michigan has a lower APR than they should because when a coaching change happens you have a lot of kids leave the program and the APR is based off the academic standing of kids leaving the school. For instance, when Tate Forcier left he hurt the APR rating greatly because he was ineligible.

I completely agree that Michigan's offense in 2013 and beyond should really appeal to a tight end like Blazevich.

Fans from all schools are welcome here, provided that they are polite and respectful. We expect all the Michigan fans to be polite and respectful to them as well. We're fine with some good-natured, mature trash talking, but everyone knows what's crossing the line.

  • College academic rankings aren't even always that solid. Some guys like EJ Levenberry (FSU) pick schools because they are strong in certain majors but might not show up that highly on the rankings.
