Be honest...

  • No one thought Hoke would do this well. My question, who were you hoping for as our Coach after RR.

Like many, I assume, the first 2 are the same. The 3rd option would be interesting...

    1)Harbaugh
    2)Miles
    3)Pat Fitzgerald(NW)

Agreed, I'm not a fan of Miles due to shady greyshirting practices. I would have liked Fitzgerald, but I knew that wasn't happening. Schiano was probably my 2 with Hoke being 3 or 4.

    This is Michigan, fergodsakes.

    Never Lose Hoke

  • Harbaugh is a great coach but knew he had NFL dreams. Didn't really want a guy who was going to be here for a couple years. Didn't want Miles. With us on probation he scared me. Once Hoke's name came up and i looked into his coaching history and style of play i was ok with him being named the coach.

He could have won us a few NCs, then gone to the NFL and become the Titan's HC and won us a few Superbowls and I would not have minded one bit.

  • I certainly didn't think that Michigan would be so successful in such a short time under Hoke.

But I think we all knew Hoke meant business when Greg Mattison joined the staff. I can still remember that a contingent of Ohio fans were taken aback (and even put off) by the hire.

  • Wanted one more year for RR with a forced DC change tbh(yikes). After that Harbaugh or Miles would have been fine, didn't want Hoke.

Was impressed from the introduction press conference on and definitely can't complain so far

If Brandon didn't bring in someone who had been at Michigan before things could've stayed ugly. While I like Fitzgerald, we really needed somebody who has been here and knew how to mend things that shouldn't matter to a football team but do matter at Michigan. Thought Hoke would do well, just not off the bat since he was so relatively unknown.

  • I was like Brady hoke? Who's that? Then watched his press conference- complete sports boner!!! Alot of new coach hires "say" what the fans wanna hear- mr hoke didn't- he was 100% genuine !!! - But still didn't think he and his staff would be killin it this soon. It's a beautiful thing what's goin on in Ann arbor ..

I didn't believe Harbaugh would be around long enough for that.

  • I wanted Patterson from TCU. Great D's with undersized/underrecruited players, ran a spread on offense...but after he signed that contract extension, I didn't want anybody. Harbaugh was a douche who would bolt for the NFL in 3 years, Miles was old and had questionable ethics, and Hoke, well sub-.500 coach from non BCS conference doesn't inspire much confidence. I spent the entire time until Hoke's press conference in a fetal position under the kitchen table. It did not have a real good time.

I dont think Harbaugh would've been as successfull as Hoke & co last year.

I liked Harbaugh like everyone else but he's an A*# and wouldn't get the job.

Like Slug, as soon as I looked at Hoke's record and could see his leadership character at the press conference I was on board. What he's done is beyond everyone's imagination.

Be prepared for a tough year or two though. If he has 3 losses or less this year it will be a amazing.

  • I was very hesitant to like coach Hoke but after watching his welcome presser when he said an I quote "WE would have walked to Michigan" He had me at that point. Was nice to hear someone wanted to be apart of this program with that Michigan Passion!

Do not agree. I think he could have done as well. He's a great coach and motivator.

I wanted him and not Miles. I was not nearly as disappointed with Hoke as a lot of people were. Glad we have him now, obviously.

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

  • I honestly wanted Hoke. He was my #1. I would not have complained with Harbaugh but I feared, and rightfully so, that he would end up leaving for the NFL at some point. What Hoke did for the program's he coached at was beyond impressive. Michigan has always been his final destination imo, but it did happen sooner than I originally thought.

  • I wanted Harbaugh and never wanted Miles... Miles seems shady, and his in-game tactics are INSANE! I believe the athletes from LA have bailed Miles out of more ignorant ideas than any team in America... they just couldn't bail him out of keeping Jefferson in the game the entire NC last year despite not crossing the 50 w/ a solid QB Lee sitting on the bench.

I wanted a Michigan Man, so if it wasn't Harbaugh it had to be Hoke. But like everyone else, he has coached beyond my wildest expectations. Once Mattison was behind him that told me all I needed to know, and I agree w/ everyone else his press conference was perfect.

Completely agree with ur points about Harbaugh- but denard under center 99% of the time we win 8 games!! But appreciate ur opinion...

  • I didn't really follow the coaching search too much as it seemed like there was a lot of false information being thrown around. In my mind I wanted a coach that had a Michigan connection though because I didn't want another RR scenario where tons of alums and fans hated him just because he wasn't a "Michigan Man". Fixing that problem was my hope, and they got a home run in that department with Brady Hoke so I couldn't be happier.
