  • I still feel like Michigan is in a good spot for Bars at this time, but there looks to be even more stiff competition that could offer soon. Academics and the opportunity to play alongside his brother are two huge aspects Michigan has going for them. If the Wolverines can continue to sell those two key points the right way, I feel like Michigan will have a great shot in landing Bars.

  • How do you like his game Clint? Seems like a better prospect than his brother at this point.

I like Alex a lot. He has outstanding technique and looks pretty athletic for a 6-foot-6, 280-pound kid. He shows good flexibility and has a great reach with his long arms. Alex is pretty aggressive but I would like him to be a little nastier when he is run blocking. Overall, a very good prospect that has all the tools to be good at the next level.

  • Alex has always been rumored to be the best prospect of the three brothers. We even heard about him when we offered his older brother, Brad, who is currently at PSU.

Penn State also very recently offered Alex. He's visited at least once for a game.

So this will decide which brother he likes more between Brad and Blake? lol

  • Gimme. Bars would a great OL pickup.

My ideal OL class for 2014 would be: Ward, Bars, Jamarco Jones, Mason Cole.

I think we get: Ward, Bars, Tommy Doles, Nathaniel Devers.

Can't imagine getting less than two of them. Definitely want Cole the most.

    You could say that. thumbsup

I don't know if Penn State could have beaten out Michigan for Blake anyway, but I really wish the old PSU staff had not screwed up Blake's recruitment. They screwed up several OT recruitments that year, and unsurprisingly we're hurting a lot at OT now.

Brad only has two more years left (IIRC), so Alex would only get to play with him for a year at most (and even then he'd almost certainly redshirt).

  • Back on Tremendous, I wrote a post illustrating Alex as one of the top ten overall targets in the '14 class for Michigan. A commenter left this note, and I assume they must be close to his family:

Alex's maternal grandfather, Doug Eggleston, and his great uncle, Don Kolcheff, both played football at Michigan. Alex is very tight with his uncle Don, who he grew up across the street from before moving to Tennessee. Kolcheff's daughter is married to former Michigan center Marc Milia, so the Michigan lineage is deep! His older brother, Bradley, is at Penn State, primarily because he was not recruited by RR. I see Alex as a strong Michigan lean!

I really like Cole's game as well.

I like both Cole and Bars a lot. I'm guessing Cole will be the toughest to pull. UF is the home state school and he seemed to have a very good visit recently to Bama. If we miss on Cole but get Bars, we will be fine. Of course, I still want both because I'm greedy!

I beginning to not like RR. If Bradley would have been a 180 lb OL he would of been all Michigan I'm sure, in which case Alex would probably be a lock.

Brad wasn't exactly a big-time recruit, was a surprise late offer who committed on the spot. He has rarely played (generally just on ST's), and is one of the first names people mention when talking about players who might leave early after next season.

Great tid bit....I never understood why the brother of someones grandfather is considered a "great uncle." To me, they should be considered as a grand uncle. A great uncle would be the brother of someones great grandfather, no? Am I the only one who feels this way (I'm being totally serious)?

Thanks for the info. I have to imagine the fact that he doesn't really play and might leave early will affect Alex a bit - if he actually wants to play with one of his brothers, Michigan is the best chance at that.
