Moon, your approach to this game is too simple imo. Some of my thoughts:
- Bama's skill players at WR will be inexperienced but they have been in the program for a while so they will be ready. Moreover, do you realize that our WR corps going into this game has limited experience in Al Borges' system?
- You're underestimating McCarron. IIRC, McCarron is the first sophomore QB to start and win a BCS title game. Moreover, McCarron impressed me a lot with some of the throws he made in the title game. It was clear that he had worked his azz off and studied game film for hours during the month leading up to the game. He was sharp and did exactly what was needed of him: move the ball through the air so that LSU couldn't stack the box and play the run. Just because he's not Andrew Luck or Matt Barkley or Robert Griffin does not mean that he's not an effective game manager. Our one and only title in the modern era came with a QB (Griese) that was a game manager.
- Stopping Bama's running game won't be easy...even with a Bear defense. It should be clear by now what type of RB Saban prefers. And you better believe the Hoke wants to have a similar RB as our lead rusher. Tackling well and wrapping up will be essential. Our defense will have to fly to the ball and occasionally group tackle.
- Our offense will have to be dynamic for this game. We'll have to take some risks (like Miles often does in critical junctures). But more than anything we'll have to use a mix of power, spread, and triple option to win this game. We'll have to keep Bama's defense guessing and confused.

Frank C....Football is a simple game. Every team sport is about match ups. Find the match up that plays to your strengths. Offensively we must run Denard til his legs fall off. I know this sounds stupid, but we really do have more speed than Alabama on offense. I don't think there is a better 1-2 punch running the ball in the country than Denard and Toussaint. If our O Line even does a decent job an opens up some creases, not holes our speed in the read option will take over. Bama will be forced to bring more defenders in the box and Denard will complete some passes in 1-on-1 coverage. Michigan will determine the tempo of the game and make Alabama adjust to them. You can talk about being in the system all you want if you're Alabama's receivers but gametime is a different story. We are battle tested and that will work in our favor. Believe me, we will score some points on them. We just can't give up the big play on Sp. Teams, commit penalties, or turnovers. Defensively, you can either let Lacy wear you down all game long and then get beat over the top or play 8 guys in the box and dare the unproven McCarron to beat you. I'm all for letting him dink and dunk down the field cause our blitzes will get to him and we WILL cause some BIG plays on defense. I have faith in Kovacs, JT Floyd, and Countess not giving up the big play. WE WILL WIN THIS GAME!

I look at it differently. People talk about how big-time programs are gonna be down because they lose "all those great players". But the whole reason they lose lots of great players is because they PRODUCE a ton of great players.
It's the schools that aren't losing any great players that should be concerned, because it means they aren't producing any.
Great programs know that it isn't about who or how many great players you lose. It's about who is waiting on deck to beat the %#% out of you even harder than the guy before you did.

I'll be unabashedly honest: imo your post has a few redeeming points but overall it reads like the rant of rah-rah, overly optimistic (i.e. exuberant) fan.
- For instance, McCarron is unproven?
Are you kidding me? He beat LSU's vaunted secondary - that is much more talented and athletic than our own - and actually made some picture perfect throws into tight coverage on the biggest stage. And he did it without Maze who suffered an injury early in the game. But he has something left to prove?
- We will dictate tempo?
How? By running right into the teeth of Bama's defense? LSU's trio of running backs couldn't do that but we're going to be able to do that with just Toussaint?
By trying to get to the edge and turn the corner? LSU's option game was shut down.
- You don't think Bama will stack the box and force Denard to beat us over the top?
I think it's amusing that you suggest this strategy as a potential defense for McCarron + Lacy but then you don't recognize that Saban/Smart will use the same thing against Robinson + Lacy.
- Here are some facts:1. We are the underdog. There's no way around it. We will not be favored to win this game 2. Alabama is simply more talented than us. That's the product of multiple classes supplanted by oversigning.
Here's my opinion in a nutshell:We will have to play a near perfect to have a shot at winning this game. In fact, we could win the turnover battle and still end up coming short on the scoreboard. I think that we have a chance to win this game but I'm not ready to make any declarations.

I call Bullshit on this whole post. Let's quit giving Bama so much damn credit and give our guys a chance. You stop their run game, you win, period. McCarron is not goin to beat you throwing the ball especially since he WR's peaced out. Their D will be good but young and will make some mistakes. Have faith, in Borges and Denard. It will be like Rocky trying to catch a chicken, you wait and see.

All I'm saying is this is a new year and Bama will not be the same. And I still don't think McCarron is proven. Most of his throws were off play action and less than 10 yds down the field. I'm not saying that he isn't a good player, cause he is. But he still has a lot to show me before I got out and say that I'm worried about him.
Yes I might be an over exuberant fan (rah, rah) but that's from the excitement around the program right now. I agree, Saban will stack the box, but Denard's speed is still very tough to prepart for no matter how you slice it. I like being optimistic cause it's true. We're not playing the same Bama team as last year's juggernaut. There will at least be a couple flaws that we can take advantage of, if we don't and they win then I guess y'all will say " I told you so", but until then....Bama is the underdog in my eyes and so is every team. I'm a Homer...sorry.
