That's one article looking at the stats one way. You can always find data/opinions to match what you feel.
To me, those graphs show we are basically adding a better Indiana and a slightly worse Northwestern, but in new markets. Adding Pitt, from those graphs, says it would be better, but it doesn't give us anything since we already have Penn State getting us on cable boxes in PA.

MD fan checking in. I know a lot of you are probably disappointed with the pickup of MD and Rutgers. Based on the comments I have seen, this is a football first conference and we are a basketball first school. Like Jim B Fresh said, we aren't a top tier football program, but we do have a decent amount of upside. IMO, our biggest challenges are funding and recruiting. The funding issue is working itself out, thanks to tremendous support from a few amazing boosters (i.e. Kevin Plank) and the Big Ten invite.
Recruiting has been a challenge for a long time. It's not that we don't have a decent amount of talent (we have around the same number of players in the NFL as Michigan, PSU and UW), but we typically lack the same level of depth at any given roster position. So, for example, Denard Robinson gets hurt, you guys can bring in Devin Gardner. When we lose a stud, our next guy off the depth chart is noticably less talented. Although, in the case of our QB, we're on our 5th guy (6th if you include the Danny O'Brien transfer). Seriously, injuries have us starting a freshman linebacker from the scout team at QB. Hopefully, Mike Locksley will continue to recruit well locally and we can build something.
On the basketball side of things, we're back. You might not see it in the rankings yet, but Coach Turgeon has put together a team that could very well make a run at the Sweet 16 this year. When all is said and done, you'll see that we will add value right away when it comes time for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Anyway, just wanted to swing by and meet some of the new neighbors. Good luck on Saturday. Hail to the Victors is my favorite non Maryland fight song and I hope to hear it played repeatedly as you light up O$U.
