B1G Tourney: Michigan vs. Wisconsin Open Thread

shrug Won a Big Ten championship with a team that was much less talented than a couple of other Big Ten teams that year. I get the disappointment in this game but bashing Coach B is just ridiculous.

Winning a 4 way Big championship is nothing to brag about. I like the guy he is really nice and a class act but if you don't play any D your not wining anything and his teams always lack toughness.

I'm a Spartan but you need to get some perspective. Your team under Beilein has been a top 10 team all season. He has taken them from Big Ten also ran to this level. And your team is young.

lol no way were a top ten team. I dont care what the meaningless number next to our name says.

  • That's why I hate these threads after a loss. To say definitively that this team won't make the sweet 16 without even seeing who we'll draw is crazy. However I am surprised to see how fast people have turned on Beilein.

Now Jordan Morgan, he deserves plenty of blame. Wisconsin doesn't score all those points in the paint if he's on the floor. Unfortunately, catching the ball and making lay ups are holding him back right now. And that's a serious statement.

Last year's team absolutely did not all toughness. Talent yes, but not toughness. This is a young team with a bunch of NBA player's sons on it. I'm not saying theyre entitled, but they didn't grow up with the same toughness and drive as their father's. Tim Hardaway Sr was saying this after yesterday's game and I thought it was a great point.

Also, as someone said, this team is just really really young.

It was a 3 way tie with MSU and OSU last year. Both of those teams were far more talented which tells me that to equal them means that Coach B did a fantastic job. Last years team with Stu and Novak did not lack toughness. Size yes but Novak was as tough as they come.

There are just the most frustrating team i have ever watched or cheered for in my life. One game they are amazing and give me high hopes, other game i want to pull my hair out and can't believe they are a 500 team.

  • I dont think Beilein is to blame. I think clearly he bares some responsibility, but these players are soft and lose focus, over and over again.

Im sorry but I have watched Jordan Morgan for 3 years and the guy is just a pussy big for nothing. How many times does he turn over the ball in a game ? How many times does he miss a easy layup in a game? Its really getting old watching this team and Oh yeah can someone plz teach this team how to make FREE THROWS !!!!

I just don't like ANYTHING about this team. From the way it is coached to their ugly ass Neon yellow uniforms to the way the team shows absolutely no heart, toughness, strength, and determination.

You would think some time in some game some one would step up as a man and say enough is enough. Still waiting for that moment to show by the way they play.

Were you in a coma for the end of the Michigan State game in Crisler?

  • Thats why we were good, cause we had leadership and toughness. Novak wouldn't stand for the way this team plays and he would do something about it.

Give be 5 Novak's any day.

  • chill out guys. we played in the toughest conference I've seen in my life time. If we played in any other conference, we will most likely be a #1 seed. this tough schedule is going to help us for the tourney

5 Novaks? Seems an awful lot like Wisconsin.

This really isn't a bad loss people. We may have not played well, but Wisconsin is a good team.

I'm 300% sure you would never say these words to Jordan Morgan's face, who is 6 foot 8 and probably 240 pounds. That says more about you than him. But go ahead and keep calling Division 1 athletes "pussies" via message boards.

He's lost all confidence after the Indiana game, but dude was still All-B1G Defensive Team.

What does that have to do with the way he plays basketball ? The fact that he is 6-8 and can't do anything in games is pretty sad. If he is such a tough guy off the court as u say then why can't he be one on court is what im saying.

Just like he did something against Ohio last year, right? (That game was similar to this Wisky game.)

It amazes me how people romanticize the past and put people on a pedestal...

Penn State was a really bad loss. They played a bad game, shots didn't fall. Wisconsin went inside where they had the advantage. Step away from the computer for a couple hours and relax

I just don't like the way the team played in the second half of this game. Lots of bad shots. Piss poor defense. No energy until we were down double digits. Close the gap and then we commit 2 stupid fouls to let them widen it again.

My point is less that he's a tough guy and more so that you're a keyboard warrior.

  • You guys realize that if we change the outcome of 2 specific shots this season - a half-courter that went in and a tip-in that didn't - we'd be the B1G champions and in contention for a #1 overall seed, right? And that this is still the same team that started the year 20-1? Yeah the team is spotty and inconsistent, but it's also capable of greatness. We have as much talent in anyone in the country. Nothing is guaranteed, and obviously 3 seeds lose early all the time, but pretending like we "can't" go on a run and saying things like you're not even going to bother watching the tournament, or that you "hate" this team, is simply ridiculous. Amazing how quickly fans can get spoiled. A lot of you are 10-20 years older than me and actually attended Michigan when the basketball teams were *actually* bad and no one gave two shits about them even in Ann Arbor...and now you're whining about this team? Puh-lease.

Lol, Wiscy never has talent. But they are always good because of the way they play the game. Their gameplan/system is really tough to beat.

I'm curious which 14 seeds you think are as good as Wiscy? Keep in mind Wiscy went to Indiana and won, and they did very well in the B1G this year. They are a good team.

never wish to be like wisconsin...never wish that on yourselves. Flopping Badgers are nothing to aspire to.

Your average UofM fan and I have something in common, neither of us went to UofM. Though we do share One major difference, I got Accepted.

  • And LOL @ people bagging on Jordan Morgan. He played just 8 minutes.

By comparison, Stauskas played 35 minutes and went 1-8 from the field, 0-4 from deep, and had 2 turnovers.

  • Wisconsin is where basketball goes to die. Basically, Bo Ryan says our team isn't that great, so we're gonna play at a style that's so ugly it'll drag you down with us. Incredibly frustrating to play against. Just let it go.

Because everyone else has guys just as big if not bigger. What you are really missing with Jordan Morgan is that he is just not that talented. He was not a highly recruited kid coming out of high school and they were right about him. Simple as that.
