B1G Media Day

  • Is from 11-4 on the BTN. Not sure what the order will be of when coaches speak.

I'll be most likely missing it, so I thought I'd let you guys know.

    Hoke coming up!

Well, he is not the most eloquent and refined speaker, but we knew that. I love him though

  • Some notes from Hoke:

Not where you start but where you finish
No determination made on punishments for Toussaint and Clark, still suspended indefinitely
Kovacs has an amazing story, an extremely hard worker that loves his team and teammates
Denard is growing into the leadership role, and knows the importance of his role this fall
On PSU, "Not going to lie, we took a look at their roster"

    A2Wolverines

  • Loved his answer to the last question about how he'd feel if he was on the other side of the BCS Bowl Selection Process and not the beneficiary.

"Probably not very good, but its out of our control."

    Honest, straight up answer.

Much better than Beckman who flat out lied and said they weren't on our campus and that he talked to O'Brien first (which BOB denied).

What Illinois did was a completely douche move. Just being vultures. In the end Hoke said they will not pursue Penn St. players.

  • So i was watching media days and saw the rule changes and the one that caught my eye is a player must sit out one play after losing there helmet. Does this apply to qb's too if so that's very unfair toask your back up to come in for one play and too field a game snap

Gardner is used to coming in for 1 play or series every time Denard gets banged up. About that rule, I think I read that there is also a 10 second run off if it's an offensive player [late?] in the 4th quarter. It's also a dead ball at the spot.

The scenario they gave was a running back losing his helmet at the 1-yd line on his way into the endzone with :08 left on the clock, the ball is spotted at the 1-yd line, there is no TD, and the game is over because of the clock runoff.

If this is correct this is absolutely terrible by the NCAA. I get it that Devin is fine with it but there our lots of teams not in our position with two qbs with experience

  • I think Gardner will play a back up like Nichols did Cousins and Maxwell.

That scenario is an epic fail........Just like how the NBA has gotten terrible with officiating dictating games, arbitrary rules such as this are ridiculous

99% of the time helmets come off because they are not completely snapped. This is the NCAA's way of forcing players to properly snap their helmets.
