I know this might not be worthy of it's own thread but I would really like to know more about Austin Hatch. I know everything that has happened to him but how has he progressed athletically?
Did he play this year? What were his stats like? Do we think he will be able to play BB at UofM?
The coaches gave him a early offer so he clearly has/had game before the tragic accident that happened to him and his family.
It would be really cool if Steve or Mark could talk to him and see how he is doing.

I sweat to God just reading that brings tears to my eyes. For those of you that know his whole story .. can you even begin to imagine what he's gone through? And to still want to play basketball at Michigan .. that tells me all I need to know about the kid. And then it goes on to mention that he wants to be a doctor?
Hats off to Austin. I'm rooting for him every single day.

just reading the article above, man it's still so amazing how great this kid is. i really hope it all works out for him!
If he can't play I don't think it will effect the BB scholarship numbers. There is away around that but I'm not sure how it works. I know when I played football at Ohio University when guys had career ending injures they still could go to school and have it paid for and it didn't hurt the 85 limit.

I talk with Austin occasionally, but as I've mentioned before, he wants to keep everything off the record. His family would like to have his recovery process private, so they have PR people that keep Austin from doing formal interviews and such. I'm not sure when exactly he will be cleared to play competitive basketball, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up playing in an AAU game or two this year although that is strictly my opinion.
