completely agree with you. looking at our class as compared to ohio state we have a superior class in my opinion. We have bolstered both the offensive and defensive lines, as well as the linebacker corps. While it appears OSU has really only got a superb defensive line coming in. I'll take a well balanced class with alot of 3 and 4 star rated players any year. For example I believe our O-line class stacks up well against OSU's incoming D-line class. While I think our D-line class far exceeds what they have coming in on their O-line where they are already spread thin at. People need to calm down and look at the entire picture football is a team sport not a singular player.

Love this class... Love how this staff in a very short time has proven they can coach up kids and make them better.... Love that this team seemed to get better as the season went on.... Love Michigan football.

You guys might not care what I have to say, but I've got to agree with mgoblue here, your class is a very solid class. You dominated the state of Michigan, and have a top 10 (top 5 depending on the site) rated class. So you didn't finish it as #1, who cares? Based on how Hoke performed with the current players, he doesn't need the #1 class to put good squads together...

Why would anyone be on the ledge? It's a top 10 class in which we got ridiculously strong players at positions of need.

We needed bodies on the offensive line and got 4 of the top 40. I'd stack our offensive line class against any in the nation. I'd like to see the defensive line that is going to dominate them in 3 years.

We needed Linebackers, and went out and got 3 of the top 20 ILBs according to this site and 1 of the top 25 OLBs according to this site.

We needed defensive line prospects, and went out and got a top 5 Defensive Tackle.

I mean, honestly, what more do you want in a class? Yes, I wish every highly rated prospect we offered committed to Michigan, but it's not going to happen and is never going to happy.

The fact of the matter is that recruiting is fluid. As thrilled as I am about how highly rated this class is, some of the recruits we have might not even play a significant role for Michigan because someone better comes in next year. Look at Cullen Christian a couple years ago. Michigan fans were calling him the "can't miss" cornerback recruit that we desperately needed. He got to Michigan and did nothing but get torched over and over and we see that he's not as good as we thought he was.

Some of the recruits that we didn't get might have never played a down for Michigan because someone better could come in next year.

It's amazing to me that people are upset because of not landing 2 or 3 guys they wanted. Armani Reeves, Josh Garnett, nor Sam Grant would not "make" this class. The class is already top notch.

Let's see how 2013 goes...

yeah your gonna go 12-0 in a new system. Delusional much? Your coach isn't the same guy he was in 06 and 08, not to mention the staff he had then compared to now is night and day, and not in your favor.

Excellent post....not a UofM fan, I'm from the "state down south". I think Michigan has an excellent class coming in and more importantly your coaching staff has shown they know how to coach kid's up. You won 11 games including a BCS game with basically the same team that had struggled some in 2010. The other good point you make is you have to trust your coaching staff to recruit the kind of players they think will help them out. You can't base your opinion solely on the number of stars a prospect has according to self-proclaimed recruiting gurus. The ratings are fun for fans and I guess a good place to start when fans evaluate. But as many 3 star kids go on to be players as 5 star kids go on to be busts. You have a good staff that knows what they are doing and the RichRod years are in the rearview mirror. No team gets every player they target but you definitely have a top 10 if not top 5 class coming in which will only help you build on your success in 2011.

The similarities of fan bases are hilarious. There are two kinds of fans in recruiting: those that over react, and those that keep the perspective in sight.

Your staff, while hard for me to admit, did a hell of a job with the same sorry players that Rich Rod couldn't achieve anything with. They got the team to overachieve which is most important. A top 10 class and a staff that can get the best out of players should be enough for comfort after years of Rich Rod.

That said, I completely understand the ones that fear you will never have a better recruiting class with Hoke vs Meyer, but again, rankings do not mean everything. Every class has its surprises and busts.
