That's fine so long as you don't get offended by the OSU fans who still find Michigan dirty based on the Fab 5 era! I personally don't, but people are willing to hold grudges forever over the silliest things. If the entirety of the OSU football program is dirty to you based on a relatively singular group of dirty people within a 10 year period of OSU's 100+ year football history, then there's no reason why OSU fans shouldn't call Michigan basketball dirty based on Ed Martin's relationship with the Michigan program and the some $616,000+ he was shown to have given members of the team over the years.
^That to me is a silly positive to have, though. Michigan isn't dirty because of the actions of a small group of people, OSU isn't dirty to me because of the actions of a small group of people. Just my 2 cents.

Good comparison. The late 90s and 2000s were a wasteland for Michigan basketball largely because of the Fab 5 nonsense.
If OSU's football program suffered in a manner similar to Michigan's basketball program, it wouldn't even sniff the BCS for 15 years, and you would have to deal with a Brian Ellerbe sort as coach for next four years.
Now that's paying for your crimes.

As long as we can all OSU dirty 20 years later (meaning until 2030) that is fair.
Frankly, I say take your lumps and move along. I am unwilling to throw Urban into that pot of filth and call him a cheater until somebody shows it to be true. OSU screwed up, just as Michigan Basketball did...they owe it to admit it, and then move on.

'osu didnt suffer any real consequences'?
the head coach lost his job, a 12-0 team did not play for the n/c and we lost some schollies...(all because they traded some trinkets for tats/cash)
i believe osu should be punished and they were/are, but i will ask you then, what do you believe the punishment should be?
if you had the final decision, what would it be? (not just for osu, but usc, oregon, miami and psu too)

i will agree osu got lucky with the recruits (timing is everything), but you mention you think osu is a dirty program, please explain???
do you think they are still dirty after getting caught and penalized?
if so, why would the ncaa allow them to compete if they are indeed dirty?
and if the ncaa turns a blind eye to dirty programs such as osu, usc, miami etc...why would um and other teams even want to compete with such horrible programs that are indeed in bed with the ncaa?
if this is all true, what chance does really anybody not named osu, usc, bama, lsu, really have?

You are dirty because the indiscretions that transpired are incomprehensible....your football players hanging out with drug dealing felons, and your coach covering it all up and playing ineligible players. The NCAA is a joke, your improprieties with Tressel were at the very minimum on the same level as USC and Reggie Bush, but look at the punishment. The punishment was a joke (although its even more of a joke on you because you should have played in the championship game this year, but you decided to cheat). Its a good thing your in bed with Emmerit through past associations...again this post just highlights the beneficial luck a dirty program like your recieves.....the slap on the writs probation, Urbie happened to have health problems when the vest was canned, PSU having the biggest scandal in history with a molester etc....again, go to hell Ohio....ok im drunk ive got to stop.

the ncaa is a joke no doubt. TOSU has paid the price for a coach looking the other way get over it time to move on... but didnt michigan's football team get put on probation a short while ago? to much practice time and a cover up that covered two universities? competitive advantage although it didnt show on the field.
to be mad at ufm/tosu for recruiting with in the rules is just plain stupid....but we are on a michigan board and the blue glasses are free

Which is perfectly reasonable. Michigan didn't do anything wrong, and yet we came in 2nd for Garnett, Diamond, Kozan, Dunn and Reeves in 2012, and Standifer didn't qualify which pretty much lost us Treadwell too. Add in 2013, where we've come in 2nd with Isaac, LMIII, Conley, and Levenberry, and it seems wildly unfair that the biggest coaching change should come at Oregon and basically giftwrap Dontre Wilson to OSU.

you are correct my bad sometimes better to be lucky then good is what your saying? but i do think there are a few mad posters in this group.....what happened under tressel will not affect kids decision on playing for ufm.....two completely different things.....i think ufm is making our luck good if you ask me

Believe me, I'm a huge supporter of the idea that you make your own luck, and to an extent, OSU's luck recently has been a product of Urban Meyer and his staff getting into the conversation and being the #2 for so many kids. However, it's not like Brady Hoke isn't doing the same thing, we're just not seeing the same type of unpredictable upheaval happen at the #1 choices of the kids we're coming in #2 for.

Therefore, yes, it seems like in the case of a number of OSU targets recently, it's better to be lucky than good - they've been closed to OSU by default, not by anything Meyer did.

I've certainly been very impressed with Hoke's recruiting. I think the last two years OSU and Michigan have had comparable classes--the only real difference to me is that UM's focus has been more on the OL whereas OSU has had more of a DL focus, but otherwise I think they're pretty interchangeable. That should create some colossal UM OL/OSU DL battles in years to come. The quickness with which Hoke was able to bring UM back after the Rich Rod era says not only a lot about him, but a lot about the selling power of UM to recruits. I think UM and OSU are set up to be the two titans of the B1G for many years to come.
