Are the Robinson twins going to Ohio State?

  • I swear to God, OSU seems to always benefit from coaching departures.

  • No, they're not.

not many. most believe they could max out with 25, and based on need the twins in all likely hood couldnt get into the class even if they wanted. many believe wlison will flip though

  • What would really be epic is if Urbie flipped to Oregon to replace Cbip Kelly. I might just have to buy a BN subscription to read those meltdowns.

I was wondering this myself. Doesn't seem like they have a lot of seniors leaving (even with Hankins gone as well). I know they had some guys kicked off the team in the last year, so maybe they were reasonably below 85 to begin with. But I'd be interested to see where all these spots are coming from.

  • We only have 21 spots "open" but will be opening up as many as Urbz needs.

We negotiated with the BIG to give us some of the 20 spots you had taken away. You know, as all your PSU brothers will tell you, that the BIG will do anything for OSU or UM. The rest of the league doesn't matter.

LOL, by telling scholarship players that "maybe Ohio State isn't the right place for you"?

How appropriate for that program and coach clap

This is possible, but several of the rumored transfers are guys who were projected transfers before Urban was coaching at Ohio St. Tommy Brown and Chris Carter were guys who were rumored transfers almost the minute they signed. The thought is these guys didn't want to work hard enough to please Fickell, they certainly won't want to work like Marotti will make them, especially if they aren't going to be playing, which is very likely as they were huge reaches to begin with. I do not want to see Urban "helping" these kids realize playing time is not in their future, but I do think some of the questionable kids will see the writing on the wall that they just aren't on the level of the kids coming now.

As of now it looks like Dontre Wilson and the Robinson twins will be visiting OSU. Darren Carrington is supposedly now reopening his recruitment as well, so that's another visit possibility if he chooses. I think we have a better chance with the Robinson twins (probably 10% at best) and Dontre Wilson (50/50--based on the fact that he's said that he's upset with Oregon, and has been saying all along that Oregon and OSU were the only two schools he'd really consider), I don't know that Carrington necessarily has any interest in OSU.

OSU benefits the most of any program w/out doubt from Chip Kelly's departure, being that we're the closest approximation of what they run among top 10 teams (Clemson is likely comparable as well). No one's spread is quite like Chip's, but OSU and Clemson's aren't that far off (a bit less hurry-up). The only issue is that OSU is at 22, I believe, Meyer has said he's likely to take 25. The other issue being that there's only a month to flip these recruits. I think OSU could get Wilson, will miss on the Robinson twins and Carrington. I wonder whether, even with Lame-duck Kiffin, USC starts grabbing a lot of the sort of recruits who have gone to Oregon in years passed. That was the one thing I liked about Chip Kelly's Oregon, they managed to grab just enough from USC. Notre Dame seems to be taking on that role at the moment (nearly every Californian recruit in 2013 and 2014 has USC, Oregon and ND in their top 3).

  • Ohio loves the bailout of coaching changes/coaching turmoil...last year you get 5 players from PSU who you would not have gotten, this year you get a LB from Auburn, and look to get 1-2 kids from Oregon. With all the recent improprieties and current probation of your program, you positive "karma" is unfathomable.....go to hell Ohio.

Class ranked at #2 right now, without those kids from Oregon, so I think Urban does pretty well without coaching changes.

BTW, hasn't your coach contacted kids that were committed at other programs? It's part of their job, why is it wrong if Ohio State does it but not your school?

yeah, norfleet flipping on NSD was a class act move

Norfleet didn't come from a coaching change, Michigan was his dream school. There is no doubt that Michigan will hopefully benefit from coaches leaving at Auburn and Tenn aka Green. With that said there is no denying that OSU has taken advantage more then most. Denying that would be stupid on your part.

I'm not calling Hoke out, I'm just pointing out it's part of their job...Any coach that gives up before signing day won't be working too long. My point was why does Urban get so much grief for being a relentless recruiter when 90% of all fans wish their coaching staff worked that hard.

I've got no problem with a coach flipping a kid, whether it's one we get or one we lose. Got to work through signing day...

Last year OSU benefitted by PSU being a criminal institution, yes....I have a question though, did any other schools try to get Noah Spence? I highly doubt Urban was the only one that talked to those kids, yet he's the "slime" coach. Just because the kids chose OSU surely doesn't mean other coaches didn't contact any of those kids. If Hoke didn't try to get Spence then he wasn't doing his job, but I'd be willing to bet he at least gave a phone call.

No denial, no apologies either. Just as I wouldn't expect any of you to have to defend your coaches for simply doing their job.

I don't think Awink was saying that it was wrong for you to go after these kids. I think he's just angry at the universe for letting these situations benefit you when your program doesn't seem deserving of the good graces given its current probation.

I agree with what you said. It's frustrating that people are in denial. It's also frustrating that OSU was the runner up for many good players only to get them in the end basically out of luck. I think Urban is a slime for multiple reasons but not because of this. Recruiting is a business full of lies and nastiness. I'm just thankful that Michigan's staff does things the right way.
