FWIW, Waugh also tweeted thanks to a couple of current Buckeye players for hanging out with him at Chipotle the next day. I bet I can guess who paid for the food!

Haha yeah, he had lunch at Chipotle with Jones and Powell the next day. However, they all paid for their own food as I was told.

  • It has been a bizarre few weeks for North Carolina DE prospect Lewis Neal. After attending the Ohio State Spring Game, Neal became the 13th member of the 2013 class but most recently, Neal has de-committed from his Ohio State pledge. This has sent the Internet blogosphere into a rage. Lewis took some of his time to offer his side of the story.

Why did you de-commit from your verbal commitment to Ohio State?

LN: It's too personal, I can't tell you because then it'll end up everywhere. If everyone knew the real reason, then some of the fans wouldn’t be coming at me like that. Because my reason is legit, and you would clearly understand. It has nothing to do with football trust me!

  • Was Neal and Anzalone's decommits connected at all? Neal acted like it was something personal, but this could be considered as such.

  • A sex offender buying drinks for 17 yr old kids on a visit...This Buckeye Nation place needs to keep the excuses ready because its one thing after another...They are 17 !

  • Hmmm...the real story will eventually come out. But it's not a good sign for ohio to get all this bad press after the epic scandal. I feel like recruits are turned off more and more everytime something comes out on them.

  • The Neal decommitment happened for a variety of reasons. Neal never met the pedophile guy and didn't really have any contact with him. It was partly because he and his grandma are very close, and she wants him to stay close to home, partly because LSU offered and he has always been a kid that is enamored with the SEC, and partly because Urban told him his spot was open when Neal said that he was going to visit LSU (Neal never actually decommitted which is why he is still listed as a soft commit). Urban doesn't take kindly to commits taking visits elsewhere (Brionte Dunn) and basically said that he is still committed but if he is looking at another school, then we will look for another player. If that player commits before Neal, then that player takes Neal's spot. It is also partly because he kinda committed in the spur of the moment because he was so enamored with OSU after the Spring game, and didn't fully think it through which is evident in several of his tweets the week before he decommitted.

It happens when you have the biggest fan base in the country. Every fan base has their crazies, it's just which of the crazies do stupid shit and get publicized haha.

We have no crazies like you do first of all. We have diehards but no homosexual predators. Largest fanbase c'mon man!

I'm just waiting for the rest of the Waugh pics to surface. Let's face it, if he's been hanging around with current players and prospects for several weeks, there are plenty more pics. I wonder who else will show up in them?

Are you saying OSU has the biggest fan base in the country? Hope Anzalone takes a good look at ND. Would be a beast along side Jaylon Smith. There has always been something fishy about Urbie. I wouldn't doubt if you guys get more decommits. Lots of these kids commit so spur of the moment. I feel better when we get commits that aren't right after big junior days or spring games. Lots of time for these guys to think about there decisions.

  • To all of you, yes we do have the biggest fan base. Read this, then look at the part about the overall fan base. We have the largest at 3.16 million and you have the second largest at 2.92 million

  • If I was an OSU fan I might be freaking out right about now. Never mind about the decommit, i'd be worrying about possible recruiting violations and boosters which can't be good after the whole tattoo fiasco. Why are 17 year old recruits hanging out in a bar in the first place? Why are they hanging out with this creeper who is buying them drinks? Kinda strange.

I agree, every fanbase has crazies. I recall a story early during his junior year that James Ross and his dad visited Michigan for the Spring Game or maybe an early season game and fans were yelling obscenities at him because they thought he was on OSU fan since his jacket (Orchard Lake St. Mary's varsity jacket) was red...

A convicted sex offender tweeting players and buying recruits drinks (let's assume non-alcoholic) during the Spring Game weekend is really bad though.

Read the entire article. it combines a lot of different factors and is very sound in it's reasoning. I've seen many different articles about this topic and it's the only one I've read that actually has reasoning behind what it reports other than stupid surveys of 1,000 or so people across different areas of the country

This whole situation doesn't add up. If Anzalone really wanted to be a Buckeye, why so sudden and permanent a change? And why did Heurman pick ND when OSU fans thought he was close to a lock for them? And why are they suddenly worried about Bosa possibly being next?

Here's one theory, and yes it is totally something I came up with in my mind, but what if this Waugh dude technically qualifies as an OSU booster somehow under NCAA rules and what if he was buying all these guys meals and drinks during their visit to Columbus? The pic that is floating around makes them look pretty cozy. And IIRC some current players seem to know Waugh too. Apparently, someone tipped off the OSU compliance department about Waugh's sex offender status and suppose once they began investigating they found out all of this other stuff. No way can OSU afford more "extra benefits" violations right now, so maybe they decided they had no choice but to cut loose any recruits Waugh bought anything for. Heurman suddenly switches to ND. Neal decommits. Anzalone does the same a few days later. And the Nuts are suddenly very worried that Bosa is next.

Any takers on my conspiracy theory?

That sounds about right. Woodson finally making some sense :)

Once again, read the entire article. If you deny that it's evidence and reasoning are sound, then you are being bullheaded. It combines many different factors and is the most thorough out of everything I've seen on the issue
