The weird creepy sex scandal giveth, and the weird creepy sex scandal taketh away. Such is the nature of Ohio recruiting so far under good ole Urban!

Which part are you calling BS, exactly?

" this has absolutely nothing to do with Urban"
How does this poster know this for a fact?

"He and his parents were very disturbed by this and were trying to preserve their image by distancing themselves from it"
Again, how does he know this is what the Anzalone family is considering? It's pure speculation

It's easy to draw the conclusions the OP listed, but it's all wrapped up in a nice little package with ZERO credible source to back him up. If I see a quote from the parents or Anzalone himself, I'll change my opinion. But for now, all Bucknuts are simply in damage control mode.

Ask anyone on Bucknuts (with the exception of cdiddy70). I do have credible information and I know what I'm talking about.

But you can't post your sources here because it's "privileged information", right?

Circle the wagons. I get it.

  • Looks like it's true. Some guy named Eric Waugh and goes by @Bdubstriviaguru on twitter. He shut the twitter down after getting bashed by every buckeye fan but he used to tweet recruits none stop. I get that anyone can make an account and tweet recruits but this guy was on another level. He was even followed by Mark Pantoni, their Director of Player Personnel. Not sure how he was able to go to a spring game as a fan and then end up hanging out with recruits. This is very weird and creepy.

I completely understand why you would feel this way which is why I don't really try to argue with people that question me because I do understand how people would be skeptical. However, there are a lot of people around OSU (boosters, friends of the staff, etc.) that know a lot of things that they aren't supposed to know which is a result of the somewhat "open door policy" of the Tressel days as Tressel didn't take nearly enough steps to prevent information from getting out, which is part of the reason why TattooGate broke. Urban has been trying to do damage control on that front ever since he got here which is why I wouldn't be surprised if guys like me that know people like this (in my case, one person) won't be able to find out anything anymore in the next few years.

  • its may, recruiting is just getting started. i find it funny that you guys believe we are falling apart because a linebacker changed his mind. i wish him the best wherever he chooses to go but makes me wonder what made him change his mind. last time i tried to say congrats to you guys after you beat vtech i got 12 downvotes and numerous 6-7 responses, 1 good year doesnt make you relevant again. i hope you guys continue to succeed but some not all of your fans are very cocky (we have alot of those as well)

It's not that we think your recruiting will be awful - it won't. But a couple things:

You now have zero LB commits. Your only option left is Jaylon Smith, and he's looking ND-bound. Yeah May is early for recruiting, but it's changed this year - May is not early. So many of the top guys have already decided and you're behind.

This whole situation doesn't add up. If Anzalone really wanted to be a Buckeye, why so sudden and permanent a change? And why did Heurman pick ND when OSU fans thought he was close to a lock for them? And why are they suddenly worried about Bosa possibly being next?

Here's one theory, and yes it is totally something I came up with in my mind, but what if this Waugh dude technically qualifies as an OSU booster somehow under NCAA rules and what if he was buying all these guys meals and drinks during their visit to Columbus? The pic that is floating around makes them look pretty cozy. And IIRC some current players seem to know Waugh too. Apparently, someone tipped off the OSU compliance department about Waugh's sex offender status and suppose once they began investigating they found out all of this other stuff. No way can OSU afford more "extra benefits" violations right now, so maybe they decided they had no choice but to cut loose any recruits Waugh bought anything for. Heurman suddenly switches to ND. Neal decommits. Anzalone does the same a few days later. And the Nuts are suddenly very worried that Bosa is next.

Any takers on my conspiracy theory?

I guess, but then tell me how a 30 year old guy ends up hanging around with a handful of OSU's top football prospects during Spring Game weekend? If some strange older guy came up to you in a bar, would you hang out with him for the evening or would you think he's a creep and brush him off as fast as possible? The only reason I can imagine these guys hanging around with this guy is if current players told them he was "ok" and/or he was buying the drinks. What other reason could there be?

He has an account that is 3 months old, not around during any thread discussing the VT game. He claims 12 DVs from one post, yet he has an 87 rating with a total of 46 votes. Calling BS on this guy.

That's what happened. Jeff Heuerman, Zach Boren and several other players had met the dude a few times and thought that he was awesome. The pedophile tweeted that he would be at a Columbus bar that night, and Heuerman and several other players took his brother and the other 2 recruits to the bar to meet the guy because they thought he was entertaining.

Just posted this exact same thing earlier in the thread haha...and like I said, Waugh bought the guys drinks at the bar that they went to. Idk who exactly the drinks were for and idk if the guys even took the drinks but I know that the guy bought drinks for him. One of my friends is a bartender at the bar and claims that the dude bought several drinks and tried to give them to the recruits, although he doesn't know if they took them because the bar was packed that night and had to attend to customers so he couldn't see what was going on as he didn't see them the rest of the night after that. He originally didn't think anything of it because he didn't know who any of they were as he's not into recruiting as much as I am. But, when I showed him the picture, he said that he remembers those guys being there and saw it go down. However, Heuerman's decision was all his own. He called Kelly the Sunday after the Spring game to tell him he was going to commit to OSU on Monday, then Kelly said something to him that made him rethink everything. I have no idea what he said and I can't find out what it is haha. But, he hadn't really thought in depth about his brother playing the same position at OSU and all of a sudden, this became a huge ussue for him. So, I'm guessing that Kelly brought up playing the same position as his brother or something...he went to ND because he didn't want to have to compete with his brother for a spot at TE, as he thought that Jeff deserved to shine and he didn't want to have to take the spotlight away from him. If Jeff didn't play TE, Mike would have committed to Ohio State. OSU also didn't sway off Anzalone or Bosa either. As I said, the decision was all Anzalone and his family's, although the staff wasn't too distraught because it was best for both parties. Is Bosa next? It's very possible. I'm not exactly sure right now and I'm trying to find out more about it.

FWIW, Waugh also tweeted thanks to a couple of current Buckeye players for hanging out with him at Chipotle the next day. I bet I can guess who paid for the food!
