  • I can't wait....Michigan has a winning record against us and Coach Saban hasn't done well against the Big Blue either. We'll be foaming at the mouth and will bring our A game, count on it.

  • Bama the way I see them:
OL, big ( avg 318) & experienced....will be able to open holes and pass block.......just won a NCG...maybe best in the country
    QB.....tall 6'4"......just won the NCG.
    RBs..big & fast...three have 4.0 40 speeds...and a big guy 250 runs a 4.8 40...TE's... one experinece & one new.....tall
    WRs...new, tall and fast
DL (3) two new (some experience) DE's & a big, mean, experienced NT
    Ss & DBs.....new and some with experience.........fast
LB's (four)...mostly new (some experience)........very talented........fast......not as big as last year
Overall......Michigan be glad you get them on their first game of the year....most all are former 4* & 5*s

Hay Bro, we are not "Big Blue" but rather the Maize & Blue and yes it will be a fun game. The one aspect of this game is we are talented and have many players. For 6 months all they have heard said from Bama fans and the media is that they are not good enough and will be blown out by Bama and no chance in hell. With teams that have our talent that can be dangerous for the opposing team. Not predicting, just sayin. Know what I mean? BTW "Big Blue" refers to the New York Giants.

Now give us 2 years our talent will be equal if not better. Then I would love to see another match up! That 2 would be fun! Better yet would love for you all to come to the Big House to see what 115,000 is like. A return trip to Tuscaloosa would be sweet! But with our Pac 12 agreement I do not think a home and home would work unless ND is no longer on our schedule.
    GO BLUE!

  • Yeah, we know about disrespect. In 2008 they said we didn't stand a chance in hell at beating Clemson...blew 'em out of the water.

Home and home, I dunno...y'all would melt and we would freeze....lol

I wish yall well after our game. Hope you beat OSU/Meyer every year. Just play smash-mouth and you'll beat their ass.

Who knows in a couple of years Bama and Michigan might play for it all. It would be a great game for all the fans to see.....two class acts knocking the crap out of each other.

I think that would be great for college football in general.

Dude, there is college football and there is Michigan. Once again our recruiting is still just warming up. The BEST o-line class period the last 2 years and more. We are Michigan not the average team like Texas, Oklahoma, Auburn, etc. Don't be dreaming now! I just can't wait for our expansions to be completed, hopefully in my life time. Imagine 140,000 in the Big House. Only Michigan can pull this off!

Come on brother, we would not melt because we have played many games in Aug or Sept in the south over the years. Regarding freezing, well, you would never play up here in Dec bro. I would have loved to see Fla up here the 3rd week in Dec. Why, because they refuse to go north of Kentucky period. You all will travel anywhere, but Fla, hell no they won't.

  • Maize N Blue........I am missing your logic. Michigan's OL averages just 287 lbs........that is small by D1 standards. Your DL averages just 267.......that too is very small.

That small DL could have problems with Bama's OL. Bama's DL is larger than Michigan's OL.

I see a potential mismatch in the making both on D & O.

How many times have we been over this? Those numbers aren't accurate.

i just looked at michigans 5 starting o-line and the average came out to above 300 and that was without adding chris bryant which is 340 lbs and two other 2nd stringers that are 315.

No football in December. Season ends for Michigan in late November. We could never play them in December, But hey its still cold in November shrug

I wouldnt say 2 years, I would probably say 3-4 years....we need the first major recruiting class from Hoke (2012) to be seniors/RS seniors to have a team full of depth and talent like Bama does, so that will not be in 2 years.

I don't want to imagine 140,000 in the House. That would mean that they took the 8 inches of butt space you get now down to 6.biggrin

Michigan's OL isn't below 300, but even if it was, USC had one of the best OLs in college football history that averaged below 300. Michigan may end up sticking in that 295 range simply because the players are more athletic at that weight and can avoid the speed rush, which has pretty much taken over CFB.

Well, why don't you use the official team website, you know, since they may have the most accurate weights. Joey Burzynski isn't the starter BTW, it's either Elliot Mealer or Chris Bryant.

Ricky Barnum................ 6-3, 286

This starting line averages 287 lbs.......Bama's averages 218 (also from Rivals depth chart).

    Per Michigan's Spring Roster:

    Taylor Lewan - 6'8", 302lbs
    Joey Burzynski - 6'1", 284lbs
    Ricky Barnum - 6'3, 292lbs
    Patrick Omameh - 6'4", 299lbs
    Michael Schofield - 6'7", 299 lbs

Note that Joey Burzynski is a walk-on who saw no playing time last year and is unlikely to start. Here are the two guards that are most likely to start:

    Elliott Mealer - 6'5", 310lbs
    Chris Bryant - 6'4". 341lbs

I'm not sure it really matters, but depending on the line up, Michigan's average weight could be as high as 310lbs.

    bkp1883

  • bkp1883.............I posted from the only depth chart I have available. The OL roster on this site is not working. If I just post the biggest linemen Bama has regardless of where they are on the depth chart Bama could average in the 330+ lb area.

Post your OL starting five depth chart, and source, with height and weight. Please give us a link to the sourse.

    JHATL41892

    Thats the official spring roster.

Barnum, Lewan, Schofield, and Omameh are returning starters so they are assumed. Elliott Mealer is a RS senior who played a sizeable amount of back-up duties last season. Joey Burzynski is a never-seen-before walk-on.

Burzynski may have earned himself a spot, but in all likelihood it is still Mealer's spot to lose.

    bkp1883

  • bkp1883...........With your roster and your first five of Barnum, Lewman, Schofield, Omameh & Mealer that gives you starting five averaging 297 lbs.....bigger than the Rivals weight listed there............Smaller than Bama's avg of 218 lbs.

And of course size does not always matter, but all other things being equal it is a factor to consider.
