Au contraire ... clearly I was paying attention very closely:

    North Carolina - Total Defense Rank (Withers era) 2011: 49th 2010: 30th 2009: 6th 2008: 64th Average: 37th

Fickell, solid DC. Withers' has a solid track record with DBs....

    JTforpresident

  • what has fickell done without heacock?

And theres the assumption by osu fans again that he'll have better athletes than unc. Look at nfl drafts lately, butch davis can spot talent

So from 64th he goes to, what, 30? From 30 to 15. Still that is a level of defense that Michigan, Michigan State, and even OSU played THIS YEAR.

Scary would be Bama and LSU. Withers is not scary. He may put together good defenses, but nothing yet to think he would put together SEC level defenses.

Exactly. They are trumpeting a guy because he took North Carolina talent and turned it into a top 40 defense. Congrats. They would be laughing if any other elite team hired Withers as DC.

Could you imagine if WE hired Withers? They would be laughing their collective asses off.

  • Just to be clear to all you OSU fans:

Williams never said Meyer was there to see him. That was an assumption by Michigan fans. he just said Meyer was at the game (Meyer is a low-level celebrity) and that he should GTFO - which is a Michigan commit thing to say when mentioning being in the same building as Meyer.

Williams is not trying to make it seem like Meyer is interested.

Of course, given Meyer's lack of OT commits right now and the fact that his "honeymoon shine" may be wearing offf with Dodson, Diamond, etc. ....maybe he should look at other OTs.

  • Well you started off making a ton of sense by clearing up exactly what he ment by saying just GTFO he wasnt even there to see him..

Buut ya lost it when you said the honeymoon shine is wearing off with Dodsen and Diamond. All reports are saying that OSU is all over Dodsen and they are "neck and neck" with Wisky. He could easily commit as well as Diamond.

I thought Diamond and Dodson were supposed to commit during their visits a couple weeks ago. What's the hold up? How have they been able to resist the power of Corch Urbs? I didn't think it was possible.

I wouldn't be surprised of OSU misses out on both Diamond and Dodson. I think they probably get one of them though, but not both.

The honeymoon shine is wearing off.

Brionte Dunn tweeted at one time that Meyer told him "nothing worse is going to happen to OSU" by the NCAA. Then, the NCAA made it worse. You can believe that Meyer told that to other recruits as well.

How many commits has OSU had since the recruits first got an indication that Meyer was lying to them? It may not scare off everyone, but that lie by Meyer would likely cause some pause when Meyer tells them other things.

So, Meyer might be best served going after kids he did not recruit right when he got to OSU. Most of those kids are probably "on to him" now.

  • The rest of the prospects OSU is recruiting are all highly rated. Ones that want to take all five visits and then decide on national signing day.. I'll be sure to check back in when we land the next couple

I guess it all depends on what you mean by highly rated. Spence and Washington are highly rated. So is Dunn. But they are already committed. Most of the remaining guys you are after are not even guys you were chasing earlier in the year because you thought you could get someone better. Joey O'Connor? Monty Madaris? Even Camren Williams is not a player Ohio probably would have gone after when the Vest was in charge. Ohio lucked out more than anything because of the scandal in Happy Valley. Otherwise, you would never even have gotten a sniff from Spence or Schutt. You owe PSU a thank you card.

The only exception being their OL recruits, who I would say ARE highly rated. But yeah, overall, other than Neal that I can think of, not a huge number of high prospects left on the board for them.

  • And you wouldnt have gotten a sniff at Kalis if it wasnt for our troubles. Davonte Neal and Joel Caleb are both highly rated and very much considering us. Cam Williams 8th best LB according to rivals, i would consider that highly rated. Ronald Darby and Armani Reeves both visiting and highly rated as well. Throw in Dodsen and Diamond and I would say that some good potential prospects

-1 for saying "kneck and kneck". MAC level spelling (unless I'm missing some sort of inside joke here).

  • Just to throw this out there AJ Williams just made scouts final top 300. They have him rated as a 4 star OT. Love the idea of him coming in as a blocking TE.

If it weren't for the 4 LBers we have already..Williams and Reeves would have been here a long time ago imo.
