2015 Recruiting Thread (Updated 05.03.2013)

I only worry if another school is distancing themselves faster right now. The coaches probably know where they stand with him, and when they need to offer.

You don't have to worry about that. Like you said, crawford is being recruited--heavily. Players know the deal, it's one thing to not hear from a school vs not being offered.

  • OSU just offered this RB. He doesn't have breakaway speed but a really good film nonetheless. 2015 is loaded with RB's.

His name makes up for his lack of speed.

Hes actually not that slow....and would actually fit our offense a whole lot better

I agree he's definitely not slow. He will probably come into college at around a 4.5 which is great seeing his strengths are vision, balance and tenacity. Either way, I think this kid looks like a great prospect who could potentially outgrow RB and be a WR.

One of the rare good early offers by Coach Urbs. I wonder if Hoke will take a look at him down the line.

  • I want to hold off on starting a 2016 thread until the mid-summer.

It seems that our coaches have slowed down the recruiting process.

If I see more 2016 names popping up over the next month, then I'll make one sooner.

Too short. We desperately need taller CBs.

I agree he isn't the ideal height we are recruiting for the position but you make exceptions for kids whose play is so exceptional that height isn't a concern. You see that with d'andre Payne in the '14 class. I think the coaches are doing their diligence in making sure crawford is that good compared to others in his class. That's why I think he doesn't have an early offer, but I think he'll get one by summer at least.

  • Crawford will probably be running in the low to mid 4.4 range by the time he graduates from HS.

And Drake Harris is listed at 6'4" on every profile I've seen of him. When Campbell stood next to Harris, Campbell looked about half an inch shorter.

So perhaps Mason Cole has grown another inch or so. He looks to be a solid 6'5" and nearing closer to 6'6".

Just love how our coaches have built up the trenches.

I hear you, but we have too many short CBs already. Even Countess is only 5'10". I would rather have a guy like Channing Stribling, even if he's a bit slower, than a guy like Crawford. We will never have an elite secondary like Bama and LSU if we keep recruiting 5'9" CBs.

Edit: Our top 2014 CB targets (we need these types of guys) ...

    Jabril Peppers 6'1"
    Juju Smith 6'1"
    Adoree Jackson 5'11"
    Nick Watkins 6'2"
    Parrker Westphal 6'0"
    Jalen Tabor 6'1"
    Damon Webb 5'11"
    Jalen Embry 5'11"

I hear you but there is a reason a 5'9" d'andre Payne has a offer with those other big guys. There are exceptions the coaches will make if the guy is that good. All I'm saying is the coaches may be seeing if crawford is that exception to their rule like d'andre was.

I don't care if a CB is 5'8 or 6'2. If he can play then I'm all good.

Fine, but then I don't want to hear anymore complaining when our 5'9" CBs keep getting burned by wide open 6'3" WRs. I don't care how fast you run ... 6 inches is 6 inches (insert "that's what she said" joke here).

But let's be honest here, any 5'9" CB we had on the field previously was likely not on the talent level of the 5'9" guys that have offers from hoke right?. It's not like les and Saban don't offer short corners, terry Richardson had a bama offer if I remember correctly.
