you get a point for knowing that

And I think Baker was a top 100 kid so I guess that puts Caper in the middle, mid/low 4 star range I think.

And don't believe that their defense is all 2 stars. Worthy might have been but Gholston, a few of their Detroit LBs, 4 and 5 stars.

max bullough, lawrence thomas and several others were very highly rated. But when you look at the meat of their team over the last few years they pumped up quite a few low rated kids. I mean look at their secondary. My point was only that they have done well with a ton of lower ranked kids. Athletes that may have been raw but got coached up and exceeded all expectation. they just had a two star get drafted. And although we have that as well with morgan and a few others we have had higher ranked kids.

    Nah. Don't worry about it.

These recruiting topics encompass a lot of things which pretty much guarantees that these thread will frequently go off on tangents.

As soon as O'Connor had his showing I was like "Well...damn. Between him and Jayru, looks like it's time to start thinking about 2015..."

yea i actually read that us and fsu had offered levenberry in 8th grade, there are some rare athletes that show ability that young but theres also alot of kids that don't come on till there junior or senior yr, i love hoke n co. lockin em up early but eventually theres got be some kind of threshold

Anyone see where Jayru had a tweet saying how much ND impressed him the best, or something to that affect?

USC offered David Sills when he was 13, so it happens. I like the strategy of locking up most of a class early, and then leaving 2-3 spots for elite remaining players or late bloomers.

I wouldn't look too much into it. We haven't offered yet and he might be saying that just to keep the Irish happy.

  • Najee Clayton is a name to keep in mind going forward.

    -----

Paramus (N.J.) Catholic is home to one of the nation’s top 2014 prospects in five-star cornerback Jabrill Peppers, who already holds a scholarship offer from just about every major university from coast to coast.

Coach Chris Partridge feels he has a 2015 wide receiver prospect in Najee Clayton who is of the same caliber.

“Najee is going to be a big-time kid,” Partridge began. “He’s the real deal. He’s going to be up there in terms of what Jabrill is getting, Najee is going to be in that realm.

“He’s physical, huge, goes up and gets the ball. He can run. He has got phenomenal hands. He has big hands. He’s one-handed catching balls out of the jugs machine already as a freshman. He’s a basketball player and he can sky, so imagine him jumping for balls on the football field.”
Partridge adds that Clayton is a five-star prospect off the field as well.

“He’s humble, he’s attentive, he has a strong work ethic,” Partridge said. “He’s a great kid. He does community service for us all the time. He’s constantly working with the younger kids. He’s a tremendous young man. He’s willing to give back. That’s what makes him stand out.”

Good point. The recruiting just keeps creeping back to the younger and younger prospects.

  • As far as the '15 QBs go, I think O'Connor is the cream of the crop. My cousin was at UM camp and said he was unreal.

It might be tough to land a top kid in '15 if we get a stud in '14 like Kizer, Stewart, Key, or Henderson.
