Good example but u can't hide the facts, SDE almost always outweigh the weak side ends. In order to stop the run u gotta be able to stand your ground. In most cases being able to hold your ground means your carrying more weight.

The fact is its not the weight that determines who plays weak or strong side.

Is that the same school as Drake Harris?

You guys are both right. Body type and athleticism dictate the "best spot" for you to play. And strong side generally outweighs the weekside 85 percent of the time.

Yeah.. Unfortunately. I hate seeing Alabama succeed. I just don't like them.

  • Even if he commits to Bama (which I fully expect him to) by the end of the summer, he won't sign his LOI for another 1.5 years.

In other words, his recruitment won't be over imo.

Its never over till its over but its always a tough pull to get top kids outa the south, him living in the shadow of an sec powerhouse only make it that much more difficult but he is expressing high interest extremely early and is gona visit so you never know what can happen, probably would be our biggest coup ever to pull him tho but how amazing it would be

Sounds like he has the Shane mind set though. He won't be taking any visits after he commits and he will be doing a lot of recruiting for the school he chooses.

  • ^ I absolutely agree. (In fact, I should have added it to my initial post.)

Scarbrough could be to Alabama what Morris is to Michigan.

  • when someone commits 2 years early that only means one thing. staying in state close to home cause thats all he seen and knows. lets hope michigan can blowout bama september 1st (not gonna happen) and he comes visits UM and sees how nice the city and campus is. biggest stadium, biggest indoor practice facility (2 indoor facility's) new weight room/locker room. you never know once he sees all that plus a game with 112,000. who am i kidding he aint coming.

  • Malik McDowell looks great at 6'6 290lbs... Oe would assume a 16 year old that is that big would have quite the spare tire, but he looks like he just needs to move some weight around and he will be good to go... He has a big lower body but seems to get low easily enough... Doesn't seem to labor when doing drills and moves laterally effortlessly... Whleit would be nice to land DeShawn Hand (understatement) I would be just fine having McDowell be the star on the defensive side of the ball... His game is not going to be coming off the edge and beating people with his speed but his size and punch seems to be more than enough to be a star on the DL... Hope it is at Michigan.

Agree in principle ... BUT .... this is the same as saying a local "Michigan Man" growing up loving Michigan .... but say a Stanford believes they can flip him. Possible .... but unlikely. I never felt we had a chance with him. Keep pursuing .... yes. But .... I would not dwell on it. Alot of talent in the midwest and east coast next year.

Michigan needs to spend every waking moment on two '14 recruits right now .... McDowell and Peppers. The coaches should live, eat, and breath these two athletes. Lock both of them up in the next 6 months, and your '14 class starts looking .... well ... wow.

Going further, I feel very strongly about Parrker Westphal. I want him in the 2014 class as much as the two you've mentioned. His instincts are unreal

Truth... Having Peppers potentially lock down half the field is a DLinemans dream... JD Lewis is not a bad guy to have on the opposite side either... McDowell with his size and athletic ability seems like his ceiling could be Michael Brockers.. Bigger than Brockers coming out of high school right now but having that SEC type DL would be fun.

  • Looks like Steve posted an update on Michael Ferns after his ND visit. Wonder if he loved it like PSU and Michigan visits? Some thought he might be type that gets blown away and proclaims a new leader each visit. If he didn't in this article it might be a great sign for us.

Bama does not need a kid to recruit for them right now. The National Championships and kids getting drafted does that for them.

Wondered that as well. Someone needs to PM Steve and see.
