I think you greatly overestimate yourself.
You ignored the undeniable fact that people have unique abilities. Michael Jordan is the greatest example. As a basketball player, Jordan is the GOAT. As a baseball player, he was below average.
Moreover, you missed my point. Look past the names of the players I used and focus on their measurables. A 6'4" WR with 4.4 speed is a rarity. On the other hand, a 6'4" SG is actually undersized in the NBA. The average height of NBA SGs is nearly 6'6".
Btw, chances are that Drake Harris is closer to 6'3" rather than 6'4". Listed heights tend to be inaccurate or exaggerated.

They are great athletes, don't get me wrong, but football players are the total package when it comes to athleticism. Look at Dymonte Thomas for example, runs a 4.4 40, hits like a freight train, and can change direction in a split second. Basketball players are fast and well conditioned, but none of them come close to the strength that football players possess.

Don't buy it at all LeBron could be the best player at every position in football. Maybe a few more burritos on the months he would play in the trenches. I said speed was about the same, its the change of direction that is the most athletic move, and basketball players do it extraordinarily well

Okay, let's ease off on the "burner" stuff. He's tall, athletic and has great hands & ball skills, but, he does NOT have jaw dropping speed. If he grows another couple of inches, he'll be comparable to Herman Moore as a wideout, not Calvin Johnson or Randy Moss.

Lebron James is a freak of nature. He is arguably the greatest physical specimen thus far. However, his athletic ability doesn't guarantee that he would be successful at everything.
I'd like to see James as a baseball hitter. Chances are a good pitcher would make him look foolish at the plate. (ESPN actually did something similar a few years back when they made Tracy McGrady hit against Roger Clemens.)
Just because Chris Paul has great quickness doesn't mean that he would be a great slot WR.
Just because Serge Ibaka is a great shot-blocker doesn't mean he would be a great OT.
So my basic point is this:
If Drake is significantly better at basketball than football, then he should pursue basketball.
But if he is about even at both sports, then his listed measurables suggest that he should pick football over basketball.

Probably the same speed, it's just because they play on a small court, doesn't make them any faster. I can only think of a few NBA players that would have the speed to play in the NFL, Dwade being one of the few. Lebron is considered one of the fastest players in the NBA and he would have to be a TE because he doesn't have the speed to be a vertical threat.

There have been examples of players not playing a down of football in college (Antonio Gates, Steve Neal) or trying out another sport first (Weinke, Weeden) but still leading very productive careers... I can't think of anybody who can say the same thing in regards to basketball. I think the chances of going to play basketball and not making it, there could still be a chance to crossover into football... if you dedicate your time to football, I don't see it likely to be able to make that switch over to basketball.
I think one of the main things being overlooked is the simple numbers... there just simply aren't as many basketball positions to go for as there are NFL... on top of that basketball players are competing for those spots w/ the entire world, when football players are limited to basically the U.S.

BDohnFoxSportsNext @BrianDohnScout Talked to 2014 DB Jabrill Peppers. He said he wants to go to medical school. Great to hear. #veryimpressed
This bodes well for Michigan given the prestige of the med school. Then again, it looks like Stanford is in the race, and I think we're all familiar with Josh Garnett's ultimate decision between Michigan and Stanford med-school. The difference here is that Peppers is on the opposite side of the country, much like Garnett was. Hopefully this only attracts Peppers to UofM more than the school already has.
