A lot of guys always start with both, and I'm sure Harris will as well, eventually they usually all pick one or the other. Or if they stick with both they wind up not reaching their potential in either sport.

Agree. Hopefully he sees the potential to be a big time wide receiver and focuses on football.

    Take it from Drake himself:

"Coach (Tom) Izzo and coach (Mark) Dantonio have given me the leeway," Harris said. "Once I get there I'll probably start leaning toward football."

That's fine by me. That'll just mean that he's not as good at either one as he should be. He won't be maximizing his full potential at WR which is his best position.

Well he does say he will likely start focusing on football. Once that happens I think it's just a matter of time before it becomes his only sport. Time will tell.

On scout it says OSU Michigan both neck and neck for him. Still think he will be blue though.

Long way to go, but I can't help but think that when it comes to skill players, Meyer has the advantage track record developing them for the draft and the rings that they want to see. When it comes to lineman obviously it shifts the other way.

  • OL target Demetrius Knox is announcing today. Bill K seems to think he could go to OSU roflmao but he's going to Texas.

I disagree. Urbie's greatest claim to fame skill players are Tim Tebow, Alex Smith and Percy Harvin. Tebow is struggling to get any PT at QB in the NFL. Smith struggled similarly for his first 6-7 seasons in the NFL until Harbaugh arrived and started developing him into a real QB. Harvin is a success, but he's more a niche/utility player albeit a very good one. He's not a prototypical NFL WR or RB. My guess is Urbie has a much longer list of successful former defensive players in the NFL from his six years at UF. He's never had a 1,000 yard RB and his UF teams were notoriously weak at WR (other than slot guys like Harvin).

Even if you look at Urbie's first year at OSU, the stats are dominated by Braxton Miller. Carlos Hyde had a better year than many people expected, but he and the WRs still spent much more time blocking for BM than they did piling up fancy stats of their own. If I were a WR, in particular, I would be very skeptical about going to play for Urbie at OSU. It was the same at UM under RR. In fact, just look at the difference in Roundtree's production with Gardner in the game versus Denard in the game. WR's will never excel in Urbie's system and RBs will always be the second option for moving the ball on the ground after the QB.

    OSU 2012

Leading Rusher: Miller (227 car, 1,271 yds, 13 TD)
    2nd Rusher: Hyde (185 car, 970 yds, 16 TD)

Leading WR: Smith (30 rec, 618 yds, 6 TD)
    2nd WR: Brown (48 rec, 526 yds, 2 TD)

His visit to Michigan went horrible, and he came away thinking Michigan wasn't interested. It went so bad that a guy Harris thinks is a coach confused him for Jamarco Jones is cousin.

As long as the OSU visit wasn't an unmitigated disaster, I would expect OSU to be well ahead of Michigan.

No No No. Michigan is neck and neck for Damien Harris a 2015 RB and has no ties to Jamarco Jones that I know of. You are thinking of Mikale Wilbon a teammate of Jamarco Jones. Wilbon is a 2014 RB prospect.

What I stated was the draft, not the NFL. All of those players got drafted high, but didn't produce. It's just as easy for him to say that the teams didn't cater to the skillsets of those players, or that they just weren't a good fit cause the teams drafted at the highest value, not who worked out well. For example, who thought that Tebow would go that high? Plus all three have had coaches who drafted them get fired shortly afterwards.

They knew who Harris was ,they offered him in the summer. You are talking about '14 RB Mikale Wilbon.

I think you are mistaking Harris for Wilbon. Harris said he had a great visit and loved Michigan. Wilbon on the other hand said his visit was pretty bad.

^^^this. He grew up a Michigan fan, was the first 2015 offer, I think in time he goes blue.

And I've read where it wasn't even a coach who didn't recognize him. It was someone associated with the program
