2014 Recruiting Thread (Updated 03.20.2013)

  • 2014 D-line recruiting is already pretty heavy. In early on Hines and we'll probably lead for (or already do) McDowell, Gelen Robinson, and Dylan Roney.

  • Im liking the chatter already for 2014....seems like were in position for another top 10 class

The best DL in the nation for 2014 will be Deshawn Hand out of Virginia, who will at least give us a visit but I think he'll go to Bama.

I've heard great things about McDowell and Robinson but don't know too much about Roney. Is Roney expected to be four-star talent as well?

I've actually never heard of him but I just checked out his profile and he's teammates with Godin and Shallman. Here's a link to his profile with film.

Also Bryan Mone Sione Houma's teammate he already has a Michigan offer and was one of the first kids to get an offer in the 2014 class.

  • Steve Wiltfong on 2014 CB phenom Jabril Peppers:

"He was our sophomore Player of the Year. This cat is good enough to play college football right now. This one is easy to call. He's a big-time CB, a heck of a high school RB, and also an electric return man. Has a great build too. Great kid, great student. The total package."

"Not sure he'll be No. 1 in the nation, but I think he'll be up there. That's for our analysts to decide. As far as schools, Rutgers has impressed early for obvious reasons. After that, Jabrill hasn't gotten a chance to take many visits. He told me when I went out to see him play that he always wanted to hear from Michigan. He brought the Wolverines up, not me. We'll see what happens. That doesn't make them the favorite or anything. Just a school he acknowledged he has respect for."

    And on Malik McDowell:

"He looks like the top player in the state and one of the top prospects in the Midwest thus far."

Agreed, this is a great 2014 update on yet another Good Counsel prospect that Blake Countess will help us with and potential commits this weekend

I know we said it earlier on this page, but 2014 DL recruiting is going to be insane. McDowell, Hand, Bars, Mustipher, Roney, Robinson... Wow.

I personally think that's a very optimistic opinion. I do not share his views, but I would love to be wrong!

LB too. The Cass trio, the kid from Treadwell's school, the kid in the TREMENDOUS update, and I think there is another Midwest LB or two I am forgetting. Plus any national LB's.

    Love it.

Oh, and I forgot Brandon Hines in the DL...

2014 should be another amazing class goblue

Is it wrong if I chalk Peppers up as a lock already?

Just coming to post the same (re: Hines).

Our defense, especially front 7, is going to be loaded.

Holy crap our 2014 class could be better than our 2013 class and that is saying something. Peppers, McDowell, Kizer, etc... Good lord.

  • We need Todd/Clint to get an update on Peppers

    Michmania

  • There's a 2014 LB that plays for the same team as Poggi. Melvin Keihn, he's already got good size and holds early offers from Maryland, Rutgers, and Virginia. He could show Michigan some interest if we land Poggi. Things are looking good for LBs and DL in 2014 class already.

This is just something I want to email the coaches about!

I hope they really recruit Peppers hard, if he's got interest and he's that good we better try the hardest we can.

McDowell is a stud, don't think he commits this weekend but I'm glad he looks like a Wolverine lean early!

    Jabril Peppers would be incredible.
