    It was Westphal from what I've heard, and there may be several reasons for it. The main one is, ideally, they would like to see Junior year tape on kids before a commitment, unless it's a sure fire 5 star type kid. It's a time during a kid's HS career where the major changes normally occur, and UM's board could end up being drastically different in a couple months.

    Tremendous did a brief intro of this 2014 back from NJ, a 6'2" 235# beast/stud named Gerald Owens.......I think my favorite running back for the '14 class we have a legit shot at. I will say his competition is suspect, and/or he has a really good OLine......but lets not take anything away from this kid being the real deal. He is a man among boys in that video

    Bumping this. Just watched the vid. This kid would be a stud in our O. With two more years of HS to continue beastifying (it's a word) himself, he'll be physically ready to play his frosh year. I hope our coaches get in on him soon. Would love for him and either Wilbon/Hillman to be our RB's in the 2014 class

    Yes, it makes sense as part of the overall message to tell the kids: Don't commit until your ready, take other visits before you decide, and its way too early for any '14 kids to decide.

    Good to know so we don't need to expect a lot of "way too early" commitments.

    And I agree, the kids will like it.

  • 2014 recruits. Parrker Westphal, Damon Webb, and Deon Drake were at MSU practice today. I don't think we (MSU) have much of a chance with Westphal or Webb though. They are probably yours.

    I may be in the minority but if I had to choose just one I want Westphal.

    Agreed. Michigan will be in a run for Webb, as the SEC schools, along with potential USC, will give us a run for our money. Westphal seems like he really likes Michigan.

    I'm in the minority with you. I love Westphal's game. I need to see more of Webb at corner before I make a legit choice. But as of now give me Westphal all day (actually give me both of them and Peppers)

    I think Drake is a player like Gibbs was this year. You offer him if you can't get two of Garrett, Ferns, Booker, and Morgan.

    couldn't say, idk if Wilcher really has that power. If he doesn't get a UM offer I think that greatly increases your chances. Looks like he will be fairly heavily recruited and get quite a few offers so very hard to predict now who he would be interested in should Michigan not pursue him.

    Actually, I think we take three next year. (Webb, Westphal, Peppers)

    Although, I wouldn't be surprised if we let Webb go to LSU and just take Westphal and Peppers.

    idk, i don't think our coaches would let an instate kid with the talent of Webb go, especially with him bein from our pipeline school. Atleast I hope they won't.

    They aren't going to "let" Webb go anywhere. I would bet he's their top target in the secondary.

    JMO, Westphal and Peppers are both better.

    I feel like Weshphal has all the tools. Just from watching 10 or so minutes the first thing that jumps out to me is he is a really intelligent player. I mean look at 3:55, you don't see sophomore CB's or some college CB's make a play like that. He also has great size and actually knows how to tackle.

    Alright, I admit I shouldn't have said they're both better than Webb. But I just really really like what I see out of Peppers and Westphal.

    I misworded that OP. I guess I'm trying to say that if they only take 2 CB's, my guess is it'll be Westphal and Peppers.

    I doubt Peppers is a CB in college. Isn't he already 200? Future safety.

    When you say "IMO they are better"... shouldn't there be some kind of basis for it?

    You could've read the end of my post where I clearly said I was asking out of curiosity and wasn't trying to be a dick, instead of getting defensive.. just saying.

    Webb is just starting to hit the scene as a national recruit. He played at U of D last season so he didn't get the same type of exposure as the kids from Cass got. This summer he played DB at camps at UM, OSU, LSU, Wisconsin and came away with offers from all of them.

    All 3 are very good prospects, but since Webb is an in state kid, I'd bet that he is the highest priority.

  • I do not see how we could let Webb go. If I had a choice I'd take all three. Peppers could play a bunch of different positions db, safety, rb, and maybe even OLB with 20 or so more pounds.

  • I think the 2014 DB talent is so rich that we could end up taking 4 players.....Webb, Westphal, Montae Nicholson, Ed Paris, J. Peppers, JR Hunt.......we fill up with 3 solid 4 stars, then keep a spot open for a 5 star like Peppers
