2014 Recruiting Thread (Updated 03.20.2013)

So far the 2014 class looks like it will be great, we need to lock up the big instate guys like McDowell and Damon Webb those guys are going to be big time players and we can't let them get out of state. Here is a list by position of some of the guys I think we are in good shape for.

QB: Deshone Kizer, Chance Stewart( It will be interesting to see who gets offered first) RB: Jonathan Hillman, Jemeterious Crockham(no offer yet) WR: Corey Holmes, Dominque Booth(if he gets an offer) TE: Darryl Long(if he gets an offer), no one else who jumps out to me. O line: Jamarco Jones, Alex Bars, Nathaniel Devers(if he gets an offer), Tommy Doles( I think he goes to ND if he gets an offer from them) D line: McDowell, Mone, Connor Sheehy( if he gets an offer) LB: Joe Henderson, Michael Ferns, Clifton Garrett(should get offered at the BBQ), Dante Booker( would be awesome to steal him from Urban) DB: Damon Webb, Westphal, Peppers, Nick Watkins

The position I'm concerned about is OL we have offered a lot of supers don't know how good of a chance we have with them until they get on campus,RB besides Hillman I don't think we have offered any RB's, NT although Mone could play there I guess no other targets stand out at this time. I think one thing that we need to remember is that its still super early for 2014 and as time goes on more guys will pop up.

    Couple of thoughts:

I would add Roney, Robinson, and Branch to the DL. If we offer either, we'd get them. Branch and Robinson look like they will probably be worthy of an offer, not sure about Roney. Could depend on how we look with other top guys.

For OL, we have Spain, Smith, Knox, Prince, McDermott, Cole, and Brown coming on visits soon (or saying they will). Now obviously those won't all happen, but we have a very realistic chance at Knox, Smith, Cole, and Brown. All awesome players.

AZ TE/WR Mark Andrews really likes UM. He's 6'6 already and probably destined for TE, but he's a great athlete. Could hurt us that other schools are also recruiting his school's QB while Michigan hasn't had much contact so far.

Derek Kief is a big WR to keep an eye on. As discussed here, it'll be an OSU/UM battle assuming both offer (they should).

Joe Henderson looks like a future DE, not a LB IMO

Also, what makes you guys think Mone could be a NT at 6'4 255? He'd have to add a lot of weight.

Yeah I probably could of added Robinson and Branch for sure, we would have great shots if we offered imo.

On the OL I just don't know how good of a chance we have with any of those to be honest, I would LOVE to land 2 of those that would be awesome!!!

I don't know how I forget about Andrews and Kief either they both desereve to be on there, I'll go back and add them. Thanks!!

Henderson is only 215 he would have to put on atleast 50 pounds to play at DE.

Mone is up to 300 now from everything I've heard.

Michigan doesn't have much of a chance with Knox. He probably ends up at Texas or Bama.

    Why not Ohio State?

I wonder if it would affect his best friend Daniel Gresham? Many Wolverine fans are fond of his game.

I'm ok with Knox going to any of those schools. We're in on Tyus Barrett who seemed to have performed really well recently at a major camp.

  • And here's a few other names to keep in mind for Michigan fans. I haven't seen the following targets be discussed as frequently...

    QB Coleman Key
WR Tyrone Washington (teammates of CB Jabrill Peppers and '15 WR Najee Clayton)
    RB Lorenzo Collins
    OL/TE Jordan Van Dort
    OL James Hendren
    DT Enoch Smith Jr.
    DT Jake Khoury
LB Troy Reeder (check out his game film...)

What are our chances with Clifton Garrett? I would love to snag him and Ferns.

I was in disbelief when I watched Van Dort on film. Huge, fast, athletic. Gradkowski?

Do you think the older Khoury leaving will have any influence on little brother?

I've heard alot of talk that he is a buckeye lean, could be just chatter though. We are in his top 5. Hopefully the Barbaque at the big house will make a big impact

I hope not with Jake he's gonna be a good one. Still really bums me that This brother left. I think that Barnum at LG and khoury at center would have been a more complete oline for this year. I'm worried about that LG spot.

Yup. I was pretty stunned by how well he moved for his size. I honestly think he'd be an amazing TE but supposedly our staff sees him as a OL.

Kyle Trout is another guy that caught my by surprise with how quickly he moves at his size. He's 2014 Ohio OL.

    -----

And I don't have any info on the Khoury brothers so I won't speculate.

Agree OSU is a serious player with Knox. Why are you guys listing him as a possible commit? If LSU goes after Barrett hard, at this time their not, they'd be hard to best. Not sure if you guys know that Reuben Randle is his brother..

I think we get Enoch Smith. We have a few things in our favor here.

Wouldn't we all.. Don't see him anywhere but OSU unfortunately. What's up with Core6 and OSU? Anyone know the former B10 players that work for them? Seems to favor OSU a little..

Star where do you get your info on OSU from? Just curious if it's Bucknuts or another source.

    I do know that.

Michigan also has a few things in its favor: he started off as a Michigan fan and he has family here in Michigan who have attended Michigan.

    general feeling is it's a 2014 recruit
He'd be one of the leaders to commit since Webb and McDowell seem to be taking their time, but no one knows for sure.

Will be interesting to see if he is still uncommitted after the BBQ. I don't think PSU is as big a threat as they once were. Have been seeing a lot of love towards ND on his twitter recently. Hoping he leaves UM open, but wouldn't be surprised if he committed with all your commits there.
