  • Any update on the Bryan Mone visit?

Tell that to Andrew Luck last years #1 pick or Matt Barkley more than likely this years #1 pick.

As Michmania correctly pointed out, Andrew Luck is no statue. He might not be a Denard Robinson-like threat to score with his legs on any given play, but he is definitely an athlete and more than capable of burning a defense for a first down + a little more if they neglect to scheme around his running ability and the play breaks down. And the fact that defenses must scheme for his running ability makes their pass coverage that much less effective, which makes his throwing game that much more effective. The same is true of Shane Morris, btw.

But in any event, I think RG3 is the model QB of the future. Hyper-accurate passer, makes great decisions and throws, reads defenses well, and has blazing speed to fall back on if the coverage is too good.

Word has it that he did not make the trip after all. Not entirely sure of the 'why' details.

Skins fan? c'mon man the hype surrounding rg3 is outrageous right now. in no way is he the model qb of the future. ill take an andrew luck everyday over rg3. go back to last season and look at his stats against the good teams compared to the bad teams. i wish the kid the best but i have a sense he might be the next akili smith.

No, Patriots fan. And the hype for RG3 is exactly appropriate.

and lol, what are you talking about wrt "look at his stats against the good teams." Baylor played 4 games against teams that would finish the season ranked (TCU, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma) and a bowl game (vs Washington). RG3's stats over those 5 games...

122 completions on 175 attempts, 69.7% completion, 1904 yards, 10.88 yards per attempt, 16 TDs, 3 INT. Averaged out per game, that's 24.4/35, 380.8 yards, 3.2 touchdowns, 0.6 INT. Those are mind-blowingly good numbers.

Let's compare to Andrew Luck, who only played 2 ranked teams in the regular season (Oregon and USC) and a bowl game (vs. Oklahoma State). His stats...

83 completions on 122 attempts, 68.0% completion, 933 yards, 7.64 yards per attempt, 8 TD, 5 INT. Averaged out per game, that's 27.7/40.7, 311 yards, 2.7 touchdowns, 1.7 INT. These are good numbers, but clearly worse than RG3.

I thought RG3 was more impressive last season. Andrew Luck didn't really stand out as being a better prospect, but I guess the colts thought so.

My question to you on this is how do you fit power running attack into that? That is what Hoke wants as far as a running game goes.

I'm not fully qualified to answer this (since I focus on defense) but I do know that it's doable. It would look something like what we ran against Florida in the 2008 Capital One Bowl.

But I don't expect Hoke/Borges to use that because the OL's blocking scheme was different in that game.

Lock right there. Only question is if he can grow into a DE or just be a big SAM LB.

DE in my opinion. I think Michigan will land better prospects at LB.

I want him as a DE as well, just needs to grow

We also have some studs lined up at DE though

Sounds good, just wish it was for the BBQ. 2nd greatest thing RR ever gave Michigan, behind Denard of course.

It's probably too far out to see who we are in great position with. Ondre Pipkins burst onto the seen so we'll see.

Eh, now that I think of it there isn't many. Roney is probably a comparable prospect at DE IMO. No idea where Mustipher will end up (OL, DE, DT), but I love his game

And Hand is a lock obviously.

Yeah they used a zone blocking scheme the last two years I believe under carr. It's definitely doable but its set up completely different.
The lineman are bigger and heavier to get the push for 5 hearsay a carry which impedes them from blocking downfield. But other then that you can still mix it up like we did last year. In any given play tou can pull the y tight end and h back and or second running back to add wide receivers. By spreading the reciever out wide or running diamond or bubble screens recievers still need to block but it leaves linebackers out in space. The very next play you can run power isolation. Really the qb is the main area of concern for whether tou run power, spread throw or read/run.
