I don't really care as long as we get Treadwell. MSU needs him more than we need him.

Don't think he'll be playing football there.

Yeah, I'll honestly be a bit surprised if he ever really sees significant time on the gridiron for them. Good for them if he does, but they really don't need another WR now.

  • If Drake Harris chooses basketball over football, I will be somewhat disappointed.

A 6'3" burner at WR is much more prized in the NFL than a 6'3" scorer at SG in the NBA.

He'll probably still grow - I think he'll be at like 6'5 or 6'6 in college.

If he does, it would improve his chances of making the NBA as a SG.

But if he sticks with football and grows to be a 6'5" WR while still retaining his speed/quickness as a WR, then Harris would be highly coveted as a potential NFL player.

As would almost any NBA shooting guard/small forward. Their all athletes and the very best IMO play basketball even with David Stern.

    No.

Compare the list of successful 6'4-6'6" WRs in the NFL versus the list of successful 6'4-6'6" SGs in the NBA.

The former is much more exclusive.

For instance, at 6'4" Miami superstar Dwyane Wade is considered an undersized SG. By contrast, Randy Moss at 6'4" and sub-4.4 speed is considered above average. In fact, Moss's combination of height + speed makes him an aberration.

I guess you are right, but our WR haul won't be too shabby either over the last two years if we get Treadwell.

That"s because they all play basketball. Randy Moss couldn't play basketball he's not tall enough or fast enough, sorry quick enough. How many catches do you think Randy Moss would have against Dwayne Wade? How many baskets do you think Dwade would score on Randy Moss? You made my point for me.

Dwade is 6'4, Randy Moss is 6'4. Do you think Randy Moss would be as big a star in the NBA as he is in the NFL? Do you think Dwade would be as big a star in the NFL? IMO Randy Moss would be at the end of the bench in the NBA and Dwade would probably be in the pro bowl. Does that make sense?

Both of us have a ton of receivers. Neither program desperately needed Drake. In my opinion he's a luxury for both of us. It's nice to get an early start like you guys have been doing. We've been notoriously slow out of the blocks.

Well comparing two players like that doesn't make much sense, it's more about the fact that 4.4 speed 6'4" receivers are a rarity while 6'4" SGs in the NBA are not a great thing since they are too tall for the point, but too short for SG.

You have to admit, he will most likely end up playing bball full time rather than football.

  • Basketball is much more athletic than football and most extremely gifted athletes especially in this country aspire towards it. Look at the recruiting in college basketball (prefer not to), a situation where your just waiting to get caught up in something illegal by the NCAA standard. Their all chasing the extremely measured, quick, and talented athletes. Plus there is the whole concussion thing.

Your guess is as good as mine. Although I feel like a guy that talented gives it freshman and sophomore year and makes a judgement call then. I don't see him as a one and doner on the court. Who knows.

How fast do you think an NBA player is? I will assure you having played both sports that they are equally as fast and much quicker on the basketball end.

They are great athletes, don't get me wrong, but football players are the total package when it comes to athleticism. Look at Dymonte Thomas for example, runs a 4.4 40, hits like a freight train, and can change direction in a split second. Basketball players are fast and well conditioned, but none of them come close to the strength that football players possess.

Yep, so he's definitely making his decision based on basketball at this point. Can't be certain enough to commit for football right now. He could grow to 6'6 and lose his ability to cut effectively as a WR.

Probably the same speed, it's just because they play on a small court, doesn't make them any faster. I can only think of a few NBA players that would have the speed to play in the NFL, Dwade being one of the few. Lebron is considered one of the fastest players in the NBA and he would have to be a TE because he doesn't have the speed to be a vertical threat.

  • My opinion is a 6'4" athlete that wants to play basketball are a dime a dozen and put him on a football not as common. Their are so many of these kids that all think they can be NBA players when an easier path is football, but they see the dollar signs and people in their head saying they are great. When really they are just another average 6'4" kid playing basketball.

Or because he is 6'8" 260lbs.

NBA players are the cream of the crop when comes to athletic ability and would have the best chance to cross over to another sport.

I think you greatly overestimate yourself.

You ignored the undeniable fact that people have unique abilities. Michael Jordan is the greatest example. As a basketball player, Jordan is the GOAT. As a baseball player, he was below average.

Moreover, you missed my point. Look past the names of the players I used and focus on their measurables. A 6'4" WR with 4.4 speed is a rarity. On the other hand, a 6'4" SG is actually undersized in the NBA. The average height of NBA SGs is nearly 6'6".

Btw, chances are that Drake Harris is closer to 6'3" rather than 6'4". Listed heights tend to be inaccurate or exaggerated.

Lastly, I can't believe you said that Moss isn't fast or quick enough to play basketball. Do you know what Moss's combine results are? For starters, Moss runs an electronically timed 4.24 in the 40 yard dash. That's Olympic-level speed.

What matters in basketball is a person's speed/acceleration/quickness WITH the ball. For instance, Russell Westbrook has insane acceleration with the ball. His ability to get to the basket is unreal. However, that doesn't mean he'd be a great dual-threat QB.

Similarly, John Wall is amazingly fast with the basketball in his hand. However, that doesn't mean he would be a great WR.

Don't buy it at all LeBron could be the best player at every position in football. Maybe a few more burritos on the months he would play in the trenches. I said speed was about the same, its the change of direction that is the most athletic move, and basketball players do it extraordinarily well
