I believe he was quoted several times saying something along the lines of "I was a Michigan fan when I was a kid", which to me also implies "I'm not really a Michigan fan anymore".
Michigan got a big boost from being one of the first national brands to come calling and show serious interest, but as more of the big time programs show up that will fade.

Couple questions for the board: 1. I saw on Twitter that Doles has been offered by Army and Air Force. I remember reading somewhere that the military schools would be a realistic option for him; are those offers going to change his recruitment? 2. If OSU fills up their DB class, do you guys think we would become the leaders for Erick Smith from Glenville?

I don't get that impression really. Kids like Peppers and Holmes were 12 or 13 the last time Michigan was a national elite, and Michigan has probably lost a lot of casual fans since 2007.
Is he more of a Michigan fan than he is a Florida, Miami, or ND fan? I doubt it.
But Michigan has the potential for the sort of season to put national recruits on notice and get back some of that prominence and luster it had 6 or 7 years ago.

I think I would have to disagree with this. When was the last time that Mississippi was a national powerhouse? Yet they pulled an unbelievable class last year. Part of it was due to top talent enjoy playing with other top talent. Once a few dominos fall, many other can fall as well.
Also, Hugh Freese was always known to be a good recruiter and he is proving it. I think this staff falls under that great recruiters category.
If he was the fan he says he was, Michigan will be in it until the end.
