Why not? The taller you are, the longer your strides are, and you can withstand the punishment of running the football better than someone who is 5-11.

Not true at all. Why do you think there are hardly any tall RBs out there.

Football is a game of leverage, you don't see tall RBs because it's harder for them to maintain a low pad level because of their added height. Michael Turner, MJD, Ray Rice, etc. are tough to bring down because of their low center of gravity and low pad level. We saw it here with Mike Hart, even though he was undersized, his low pad level and center of gravity helped him gain those tough yards and always fall forward.

yeah I know, running tall will also set you up for big hits and more injuries. And it will also typically take you longer to change direction, less agile. The next 6'8" dual threat QB will be the first, just too much working against someone who is that tall.

Yeah, but Vince Young, Tim Tebow, and Cam Newton seemed to do pretty well and they were around 6'5, 6'6

Vince Young is 6'4ish, Tebow is a little over 6'2 and Cam is also 6'4ish. Tall QB's are good but the ones that you listed are statistical anomalies, most dual-threats are not that size, let alone 6'7-6'8. RB is a different story, though, you will never see a successful RB that size.

  • Gelen Robinson only had a So-so morning I guess. But he did run a 4.7 @ 250 in someone else's basketball shoes!

  • And the 2015 Canadian qb Michael oconner is the the one who is blowing everyone away in camp the last two days. And the second best is 14 key (cant remember full name). There are plenty of qb's out there and we will get a really good one in each class. And in 15 it won't matter much if we haul in kizer

Even though it may not matter, I still think we're set up for a really good string of in-state QBs, and I think we need to take full advantage of it.

Link, Cam is 6'5 and you're right about Vince, either way, my point remains the same.

Exactly. It'd be a huge coup for some other school to come in and steal a good QB out of Cass Tech. We joke about Urban offering Finley, but there's a world of difference between an OL we never wanted and a star QB who we really probably would want.

I would love to take Finley.

  • I want finley too, just to keep everyone out of that school. Plus the kid looks pretty good. I love filling our class first, but I hate seeing late bloomers get taken from right underneath us by our rivals. But still, when its all said and done ill take how we did this class every day all day

I would love to take all the Cass Tech kids every year. Gibbs was kinda high on my list. I really like his film. As for the 2014 kids, unfortunately I think a couple (or maybe all) of those LBs are going to be left out in the cold.

  • Lb position at UM is becoming an extremely desired offer. A couple years ago UM was struggling to interest the national kids. DePreist would have been blue with this staff. I agree, it doesnt look good for the Cass lbers. Hopefully, a couple of them blow up but all are great talents.

In other news...Mr. "we take our time" just offered a 2015 qb, TN QB O'Conner.......we take our time? no

  • Michael O'Connor seems to have caught a lot of people's attention.

Apparently, he was at SMSB camp and he surprised a lot of people when they realized that he was just a freshman. He is very polished. There's a video of him throwing on Rivals. Search for it on google and watch it. You should be able to notice immediately why he is so highly regarded.

I wish he would've transferred to a Michigan HS.

I'm not sure but O'Connor is something of a phenom.

Supposedly, he taught himself to play the QB position through youtube videos.

  • His film from today looks good. Oconner does look fantastic.

And Drake has a chance at an offer, but how many lbers do we offer? 2 tops again, idk but it can't be many

I would say 3... Lots of good LBs in the midwest next year.

I think it will be another Levenberry situation, we'll take 2 for sure and a save the third for an elite guy or a local kid for a latev offer. Or, if the staff gets three LBs it really likes in a short amount of time they could do that as well.

I've always felt that LBers fall into that scenario where you can never have enough because they can contribute in so many ways - obviously special teams, but you also can convert them to TE/FB/HB if needed for depth.

It will be very difficult for them to earn scholarships, were so deep at LB now and seem to be in good position with some very highly otuted LB's again in the 14 class
