Yep, interesting situation. He's from a pipeline school, but would he go to Michigan behind say Morris/Kizer (or another highly ranked 2014 QB)?

He probably would, these kids aren't really scared of competition.

    Gardner 2012-2013/2014
    Bellomy 2012-2015
    Morris 2013/2014-2016/2017
    Kizer 2014/2015-2017/2018
    Campbell 2015/2016-2018/2019

There's always the chance that someone goes pro early.

Wow, Jayru was offered by Alabama. Having early offers from ND and now Alabama is very impressive for a QB. Glad that he's from CT.

Does he 'actually' have an offer from Alabama? I thought it clarified after speaking with his head coach that he actually did not have the ND offer. It was a mis-communication and Campbell reported it, but didn't have the offer.

Like that list as starting out. Clint was very cryptic with Hayes and how he likes UM already.

Would like to see Josh Malone give us a hard look as well

6'3 and 4.4 speed! would love to land him, perfect fit for the offense hoke and borges wana run

I heard jayru say something about wanting to go somewhere warm in an interview a while back. This concerns me more than ND would.

Very nice QB situation if it happens for us ...

While I don't think he'd be scared of competing with other guys for the job, its another thing if the job is locked up. If Morris entrenches himself with an amazing redshirt Freshman year in 2014 (hypothetical), then I can certainly see other top QBs shy away from a spot that will be occupied for their first 3 years on campus (barring injury) - incumbent QBs are rarely surpassed.

Yes .... Michigan is in a very tough spot. We have not discussed it much, but Jayru adds a huge complexity to our next 2 classes of QB recruits. confused

Trust me, they don't care. Especially when they are life long Wolverine fans. Plus Shane will be a RS Sophomore at the youngest when Jayru steps on campus.

No guarantees Shane will RS .... I say it is 60-40 he does not redshirt.

How is it a tough spot? Michigan should continue to recruit and snag the best QB they can in each class. You generally try to take a QB in each class and it should be the best one you can land.

If he doesn't, he will be a Junior when Jayru steps on campus, plus Jayru will most likely have to RS. Campbell should have no fear of playing time.

Think it's legitimate, Wiltfong just had a post/interview with him that was posted on the Alabama site a few minutes ago.

Yes but there are prospects that put the chance to play right away as the most important thing to them. Not saying he's one of them, nor am I saying Shane will redshirt, or even lock down the starting job. There's a lot of time to go on this one, so I don't see the point in worrying about it too much. goblue

  • By the way, sorry to confuse anyone by dropping this in the 2014 thread. Didn't think it was significant enough for its own thread, and there's not very much material for a 2015 thread just yet.

Like most of the Detroit kids it seems, he grew up cheering for Michigan. I'd say it's a 90 percent chance he ends up in Ann Arbor. biggrin

+ 1 , UM will be in on the # 1 qb in this class. Everybody needs to take a seat and enjoy the ride.
