It's definitely a tough pull, but if we can reel in Westphal and Embry early, we can then take our time and continue to work on all the longshots (Peppers, Adoree, Juju, Blanding, Watkins, flipping Webb) with the hope of landing any one of them. And I'm not saying we should give up on Peppers. We should go after him 100%. But I just don't have a good feeling on him. If he gets into Stanford, he very possibly might head West. If he doesn't, places like LSU and Bama have been NFL factories for DB recently. And both OSU and ND have made some inroads apparently. Peppers will be the hardest to land out of all of them IMO.

Like many who think its unlikely that a Cali player will come to Michigan, I think its unlikely Peppers goes to Stanford. This is based on one main circumstance, that he has never visited Stanford yet. So he says they are #1, but there are so many unknown variables with that #1 ranking for him, that I cant take it seriously right now. You have the distance, the campus, students, facilities etc all need to meet or exceed his expectations for them to remain #1, and thats a high bar to reach for a place he really knows nothing about. What about game day atmosphere? If he visits for a game at "the Farm" then visits UTL 2, there is no comparison.

I mean we are in peppers top 5, so it can't be any more unlikely than juju especially since peppers hasn't visited yet. Got to keep recruiting him diligently, it's too early and recruiting is too fluid to be in the top five and bank it unlikely. I don't think peppers is to Stanford/OSU as say bo Scarborough was to bama.

Its way too early to write anyone off who hs us in their top schools. A great season, with a Rose Bowl Victory and all these kids are rethinking Michigan. Our Bball team has chance to make some noise in the tourney, so Michigan, the brand, will be all over ESPN and places where these kids will see that. Way too early

The thing about Blanding is you never know what might happen if UVA has another very disappointing season. They went 4-8 and came in last in their division last year. Another season like that and Mike London probably will find himself on the hot seat (he's only had one winning season in his first three at UVA). I don't know enough about the Blanding situation, but if Mike London gets fired at the end of this season or it looks like he might not make it past 2014, Blanding might decide to reopen things late in the process.

With our schedule being so lite, we have a shot at an NC appearance this year now that Lewan has come back. We have 3 of the best players in the big ten at their respective positions on offense in Lewan, Gallon, and Gardner and a defense that finished in the top 15 in the country that doesn't lose many people.

I think you might be overvaluing Gardner and Gallon. You try explaining to another b1g team that they are the best and you will likely get laughed at. They havent proven anything at this point.

Gardner should easily be one of the best qbs in the big ten based on compeition. I believe Gallon was 4th in the big ten in receiving yards last year. We also don't need the best players to go to the NC game this year. Our schedule is weak and all of the biggest games are at home where Hoke hasn't lost.
