He is a pretty big Michigan fan but hasn't visited so you never know. The last i heard the only visit he is taking this summer is to Rutgers and then he is shutting down recruiting to focus on his High school season and his music. We should get a visit and we will know much more then but Hoke should get a real chance to impress him.

Sounds good, coaches need to get in on him early on.

  • The following tidbits are from a free Scout article.

Clifton Garrett (Linebacker) Plainfield (IL) South. 6-foot-2, 215-pounds.
First time seeing this phenom in action live, and he did not disappoint. Garrett has everything college recruiters look for in a linebacker, and he already holds five BCS offers. His size stands out first, but his foot speed and recognition is just as impressive. He also took well to the coaching he was getting from the Nike instructors, and immediately worked on the points they were mentioning to him. Garrett will be a top 2014 prospect, and that offer list will only continue to expand over the next year.

Nyles Morgan (Linebacker) Crete Monee (IL). 6-foot-3, 220-pounds.
Morgan was possibly a tad more impressive than Garrett, and had slightly quicker feet. Pair these two Illinois linebackers together in college and that position is finalized for four years, but possibly only three. Just a great athlete, with the size and speed to play anywhere in the country. Morgan also possesses a motor that never stopped, and he took a ton of reps against highly-rated offensive players. One of the top 2014 prospects I've seen this year. Offers from Illinois and Notre Dame.

    -----

Gelen Robinson (Defensive end) Saint John (IN) Lake Central. 6-foot-2, 230-pounds.
Scout.com's Dave Berk wrote, "Robinson is a natural bender who stays low and can beat an offensive lineman with inside or outside moves. Has strong compact body and great first step. Must add more technique especially working on his hands."

Would love for Michigan to dominate Illinois again next year. How are Michigan's chances for these guys looking IYO?

I don't have a read on Michigan's chances with Garrett but I get the impression that Morgan wants a Michigan offer and would commit somewhere down the line.

  • Who are the 2014 LBs that we have offered so far? Can't think of anyone right now, not sure if Ferns was a LB or TE offer.

Teammates and cousins, I believe. They talked about traveling to Michigan on the same trip, so I'd say they're probably pretty close.

Getting Morgan would be sweet. Probably only taking 2 LBs in 2014, maybe 3 if they land guys they really really like. OSU guys think they lead for Garrett, but who don't they think they lead for. Illinois is really pushing to keep the Illinois kids in state too so that is something to look for here as well.

Yep. That's what the bucknuts guys say but those are the 2 LBs besides Ferns who have offers right now according to 247. I think it's just a matter of time before we offer Morgan and Garrett though.

looks we will eventually offer but he projects to guard. and that position is full from the last two classes. looking to add more true tackles in 14'

At G, Michigan has 3 or 4 in the last 2 classes. At T, Michigan has 4 or 5. Depending on how you count Kalis.

    Hoke wants 4 OL in 2014. I would guess 2 tackles, a guard, an a C/G.

A lot of great LBs in the Midwest in '14: Booker, Garrett, James, Ferns, and Morgan. Plus the Cass Tech kids. It's amazing that all 3 from Ohio plus Garrett are considered Ohio leans. We should be able to pick up 2-3 great ones.

Any one have insight into the top 5?

OSU guys also think they sit well with McMillan out of Georgia. There's no way Ohio can take that many LBs with their scholarship reductions.
