It's a vicious cycle: every year half of the top 50 players in the country have serious interest in Clemson, 10-12 of those will commit, about 10 or 11 of those who commit will decommit, Clemson ends up with some solid players but not the elite class they look like they might have had. Clemson then goes on to have a 10-4 or 11-3 season (if they make the conference championship game)...repeat.

The coaches are all out for defensive linemen in 2014. If the chips fall into place, we should have a haul like this year's OL and maybe even better.

Correct. Michigan as a 'chance' to have a DL haul for the ages. But ... I am NOT speaking about it ... do not want to jinx it.

Agreed. We have a chance, but we dont have a si.gle guy. I hate to be a downer, but i cannot stand the talk about what we "could" have. Its recruiting, every single one of those players could be off the board. When we make a top tnree for all of them, in my opinion, then we have a shot.

Do you guys think you are more excited for the potential of the 2014 class than you were for the potential of the 2013 class? Of course to a lot of people, a great DL haul is better than a great OL haul because of the whole defense wins championships thing. I was just wondering.
I personally am more excited for the 2014 class because Michigan has the luxury of searching for elite players and being selective with who they recruit. I believe if all goes as plan, Michigan is going to haul in an unbelievable DL (knock of wood 3 times) class, one great QB, a solid RB, another solid OL, great WR, unbelievable DB class.

Just my opinion.

2014 will be about getting a stud QB, another stud RB, bulk up that d-line. A lot of great options. Last but not least, address the WR position with a stud WR or two or three. Who knows.

I think Greg Mattison just got a huge recruiting boost from the Ravens' Super Bowl win.

He can now point to recruits and say "Look what I was a part of. I brought in the entire Ravens' CB corp. I coached up those defenders and helped build one of the best defenses in the NFL. Imagine what I can do with you."

Hopefully that'll help, if even just a tiny bit, with the huge haul of DL recruits we're in on for 2014.
