    Wow... 6-2, 215, and a 4.36 fake forty?! Those are eye-popping numbers regardless of being a RB, WR, CB, S, or heck even a LB.

    I remember we had a discussion about him a month or two back. His competition is awful, and none of us were sure where he'd fit best. Then again, you can't teach those measurables. Hopefully the coaches will be able to hone in on that athletic ability and make something special out of him, if he does wind up at Michigan.

    That 40 may be a little off but based of his track numbers it may not be off by much. His fastest 100m was 10.93 thats flying for a dude who is 215 pounds. For some comparison Jehu Chesson's fastest time for the 100m was 10.70 in high school.

  • It says a lot that he's gotten the offer when they've been out to see who knows how many kids the last couple weeks with only a couple offers. I'll have a reaction from him tonight.

    I have a friend who works with the Solon track team. He said Khoury is, if not THE fastest kid in Ohio, at least in the top 3.

    He said Khoury would most likely end up at DB, if anything, but that he is, and I quote, "a freak of a sprinter." I think Khoury definitely recognized that his future is in track, not football, so I wouldn't count on the coaches ever really showing interest in him. Maybe if track doesn't work out for some reason, and we have an extra scholarship, but I doubt anything will come of it.

I always thought as long as you meet your obligations in your primary sport and cleared it with the coaches you could walk on for another sport.

    It is a tricky web, and I'll have to research it - may be a matter if they ever recruited him at football, if not it may be okay...but there are NCAA rules that prohibit stockpiling players via other sports as a way around scholarship limits.

    It's a mechanism to prevent teams from getting extra schollies. If a player has an athletic scholarship (doesn't matter what sport) and plays football it is counted against football's 85. Otherwise, you'd see football teams giving track or basketball (Harris) or other scholarships to players to get over the 85 limit.

    Rules for multi-sport athletesThe NCAA also has rules specifying the sport in which multi-sport athletes are to be counted, with the basic rules being:[25]

    Anyone who participates in football is counted in that sport, even if he does not receive financial aid from the football program. An exception exists for players at non-scholarship FCS programs who receive aid in another sport.[26]
    Participants in basketball are counted in that sport, unless they also play football.
    Participants in men's ice hockey are counted in that sport, unless they also play football or basketball.
    Participants in both men's swimming and diving and men's water polo are counted in swimming and diving, unless they count in football or basketball.
    Participants in women's volleyball are counted in that sport unless they also play basketball.
    All other multi-sport athletes are counted in whichever sport the school chooses.

  • OK thanks. I can see the point. However, it is kind of hypocritical to let a football player run track or do a field event but not let a track guy maintain his primary sport.

    It's basically a hierarchy based on what sports make the most money for schools. I don't think it's perfect, but it's the best system we've got so far, and football is one of the few sports where saving scholarships and stashing players on other teams would be abused like crazy.

    The track guy can run track and receive a scholarship for it. He is not harmed in the least. But if he wants to play football as a second sport, the scholarship counts as a football scholarship instead. But he can run track all he wants. And they have to do it that way or Alabama would suddenly have a men's air rifle team full of 6'6" 300 lb sharp shooters.
