    I thought he was up around 260 range? I hope we get Doles. With the Oline we have coming in he can redshirt then wait a couple years till his junior year to play. By then add on the weight needed. I think he could be a very good center, love his highlight tape

    Not according to his pages on 247 and rivals, but scout and espn have him as 250. Idk, he could have added weight since then, but I was a little bit caught off guard by how underweight he is/was. I agree though, if we get him in the fold he should have plenty of time to add weight in the S&C program before hitting the field.

  • Doles is very lean... I would say he is closer to 240 than 260... See him walking around his neighborhood when I drive through... Looks like a TE prospect and will need to put on some serious weight... He moves great on film and seems to play with the intention to break the opponents will... I would not mind having him as a commit in 2014 but I think he will need time to bulk up.

    Yep. IIRC it was his 5th visit to UM and it was primarily to meet with the academic folks. You don't make five unofficial visits to one school without them being at or near the top of your list.

    People need to stop with the Kaepernick comparisons. Colin is a physical freak with a arguably one of the strongest and most accurate arms in the league. You'll be lucky to see another QB possess the same tools Kaepernick has. 6-4 230 pound former top MLB pitching prospects that run low 4.5 40s don't exactly grow on trees.

    You ain't kidding. I'm really, really, really hoping that the addition of Green will make a difference for us when it comes to Hand. If we could pull the consensus #1 player for 2014? Wow. It's a rare coach that can pull a consensus #1 from out-of-state without any family connections.

    Of course, we also have to lock up McDowell in-state, and of all the DLs we're in on, I feel the most confident about Bryan Mone.

    Granted, but the raw strength of his arm probably is the least important quality he has. He's basically a tall, pro style QB who can run like a WR. And he makes good decisions. You might not find all of those qualities in someone who also happens to have a MLB pitcher's arm, but it doesn't mean you can't come close. And FWIW Kaepernick was a pretty raw passer coming out of HS. He didn't just step on the field as a FR at Nevada and throw like he does now. Part of a college coach's job is to identify raw talent early and develop it. Whoever we take as a QB in the 2014 probably won't step on the field as a starter until 2017 or 2018. He has years to develop.

    True, but Deshone Kizer doesn't have the same speed or arm as Kaepernick had coming out of high school. He may end up being a poor man's Colin Kaepernick, but he has a very low chance of being as good as Kizer. They just simply don't have the same ceiling.

    Ok, that's fair. I don't know how fast he is. I listed him fourth on my wish list, behind at least two QBs we probably have a decent shot at (Cornwell and O'Connor) and just ahead of another (Henderson). And I simply asked the question whether Kizer might have the tools to develop into another Kaepernick. If he doesn't, he doesn't, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep an eye out for someone else who might.

    Same. Give me a polished QB and a project. Kizer has incredible potential, but we do need a polished QB to step in behind Shane.

    I want Cornwell. I think he's a prototypical pro style QB like Brady/Henne/Morris and we desperately need to rebuild the quality of our depth at the position. But Kizer is intriguing. I don't want another smallish dual threat QB (e.g. Denard, Russell Wilson, Pat White, Michael Vick), but if we can find a big, tall, sturdy pocket passer who can also run (e.g. Andrew Luck, Colin Kaepernick), even if his passing skills are a bit raw, I can see us going that route with the understanding he will be more of a project. I would never pass up Cornwell to take Kizer, but if we miss on all our very top 2014 choices and find ourselves looking at the next tier down (e.g. Chance Stewart, Caleb Henderson, Andrew Ford) I think Kizer is worth a serious look.

    Colin Kaepernick was not that good coming out of high school. Kizer is better right now than Kaepernick in HS. He had a baseball arm but was not accurate or able to read defenses and ran a 4.9. Pretty sure his only offer was Nevada and that came in January.

    Kaepernick became awesome in college, not high school.

    I didnt think kizer was on tbe smallish side and i wouldnt want him that way either. Im nkt sure wilson is all that small either but i could be wrong.

    I want one polished and one kid like kizer who has tremendous upside. I also want him to at least continue tbe threat of having someone mobile to put in.

    Loydd carr said antonio bass was the biggest loss to the program that we ever had. Even carr knew that when you can switch things up with a weapon back there, it can really hurt the defense. You cant prepare for everything

    Kaepernick became awesome in college, not high school.

    Obviously he wasn't as good as he is now as he was coming out of high school. The difference is he had a rocket arm and real WR speed to work from. No way he ran a 4.9 coming out of high school btw, he's gained 40-50 pounds since high school and would have dropped almost a half second of his 40.

    Even at Nevada, he was good, but not great. No where as good as RGIII. Probably about as good as where Braxton Miller is today.

    With RGIII, Wilson, Cam Newton, Kaepernick and others...this is becoming commonplace. To ignore this potential in a recruit, I think, is folly.

    I have seen Kizer live a couple times now. Raw talent, he is there. He is raw though. I would love to take him as a project. And he has Gardner like talent that, if QB doesn't work out, you could definitely move him elsewhere.
