2014 Recruiting Thread (Updated 06.07.2013)

  • I would hope so, but there is a long way until he commits and he still has visits to take. 50% is still a pretty optimistic estimate as I give OSU a 25% shot, Florida and Georgia each a 10% shot, and the rest of the field 5%.

  • He left me a voicemail during the game this afternoon and it was all messed up like he was breaking up. I just texted him; should know in the morning. As of about 3:30 this afternoon, Doles was the only addition to the original four (including Ferns). Malik wasn't planning on taking any more visits anytime soon, but with the Lemming shoot I imagine it's a possibility.

  • I'm glad Lorenzo Featherston will be visiting Michigan during the summer.

    I think it'll be very difficult to beat NC State or UNC for him but he's essentially a similar version of Tyrone Wheatley Jr.

    McDowell will be in town for the Tom Lemming photo shoot that I brought up yesterday. He's not a confirmed visitor to Michigan's spring practice on Saturday, but it's still a possibility.

  • A recruiting roundup-type article on TOS has Darius West putting us in his top-5 with Notre Dame, MSU, Tennessee and Kentucky and wanting to make a summer decision. Sort of a weird situation because of those schools, Kentucky is the only one who's offered him. Well-regarded prospect though: #212 here, #194 to Rivals and #178 to Scout.

    I think Steve may have reported on west before but the coaches are in constant contact with him, still recruiting him. I think the coaches have been upfront that a offer may come once they have clarity on other targets. Likely similar situations with the other schools in his top 5. I always find this interesting nonetheless because if the summer comes and UK is still his only offer are you committing to the school who recognized you with a scholly, getting a place holder, or will you extend your timeline?

    It may turn out similar to the back osu grabbed last year. He has us, wv and nd as finalist and wv was only team that offered. Osu offered him late and he decommitted from them to attend osu....

    I have a good feeling about hand this weekend.

  • Don't think you can ever completely count out Alabama for elite DLs. Also think its possible for UF and SCAR to make a move.

    additional note 2: he says this is a Final 15 and he will not talk to any schools he didn't name.

    additional note 3: the schools he tweeted were Oregon State, Tennessee, Washington, Ohio State, Cal, Georgia, Oklahoma, UCLA, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Michigan, Clemson, Notre Dame, Arizona State, and USC, in that order (although he insists order doesn't matter, and I tend to believe him). I've counted that 3 times and keep coming up with 16, but there you go.
