  • TOS has a video interview up with Joe Mixon...without just stealing the pertinent information, it's not looking too good for us. He says he's looking to pare down his list soon and gives a list of five schools that are "for sure" gonna make it - we're not one.

    I'll catch up with him this week. I feel like his name is out there almost every day, but I actually haven't done an update with him in quite a while.

  • Couple other TOS notes:

    -D'Andre Payne says he's planning/hoping to visit us, but also names nine schools that "pop out" in his head and we're not one of them.
    -Jalen Tabor names us as one of six schools "sticking out" to him and says we're "coming on hard." He also says he wants to visit
    -Bryson Allen-Williams visited Alabama and moved them from 3rd to 2nd, now ahead of UGA but still behind SCAR. I don't know whether to think this is good, because it shows that his list is malleable and therefore we have a shot if we can get him on campus, or if I should think its bad because SCAR's lead is huge and it won't matter if he visits or not.

    Cool, would be great to hear him talk to a UM reporter. I've been steadily lowering my expectations about him as his incredible run of offers has gone on and on and on and showed no signs of abating, but would definitely be good to hear his thoughts about us directly.

    That's interesting about Tabor because Michigan wasn't even mentioned in an article written by one of our Florida writers just two days ago. He's one I kind of put on the backburner for a while because I didn't think there was much interest.

    Seems like the coaches turned up the heat a bit which always causes contact, more interest, etc.
    Time for a new interview!

    Ya, I feel like his recruitment has been kinda weird on our end...I remember a lot of people were v. high on our chances with him really really early on, then it seemed like we moved into no shot territory. I wasn't too surprised about this latest thing because he named us as one of 8 schools "sticking out" to ESPN a couple weeks back, so it seemed consistent, but v. interesting he didn't mention us two days ago when he talked us up yesterday. lol, weird.

  • It is great news to hear we are in Tabor's top group, I gave up on him a little too early I guess. I still want Jackson and Jabrill the most though. I still haven't heard any word on why exactly Westphal moved us from warm to cool on his player page following his Northwestern visit...

    "Elite California athlete John 'Juju' Smith told Tim Sullivan($) that Michigan is in his top group with USC, Wisconsin, UCLA, Cal, and Washington, and that he's been in contact with Long Beach Poly's last Michigan player, Donovan Warren. Smith is hoping to make it to campus for a summer visit."

    Cross your fingers Warren has good things to say. He hasn't exactly been a success at the next level. Also, I thought Juju put ND on his short list after getting an offer from them. I was surprised not to see them listed.

    Yeah. Let's hope the turmoil at USC continues for another 12 months. And let's hope ND stays out of the picture until we can at least get him on campus. I really want to see him wearing the Maize & Blue too.
