2014 DE Lawrence Marshall

  • Lawrence Marshall was the next player Gerry and myself evaluated today. We kept him as a 90 overall grade (4-star) for now but I think there's a good chance he moves up higher in the future. First off, Marshall looks very, very comfortable in his stance and looks extremely flexible and athletic for a 6-foot-3, 225-pound kid. He has nice burst coming off the line and can really close on the QB. You can tell in his highlights that throughout the season he gets better against the run but its an area he can improve on to be a more complete defensive end. Marshall needs to broaden his pass rush moves and get better consistently with his technique. We really like his upside though, and think he can be great at rushing the passer in college. I linked his profile, which has his highlights on them. Tell me what you guys think.

  • Reminds me of Ojemudia in size and stature. Ojemudia was an absolute beast in high school...tore it up at DT, which is crazy. Anyway, I think Marshall should be between 200-250, with the possibility of jumping into the 150 range if he does well at camps and has a great season.

Thanks Jack Daniels. I really like the kid.

  • I like his length. I obviously have no measurements to back it up, just seems long in the arms. Gets to people.

Very good observation. I thought the same thing. Critical at the DE position too.

  • One thing that sticks out to me about Marshall is how quick he is off the line. He doesn't get past the OL by bull-rushing them, but he can beat the opposing OL with quickness and agility. Just from looking at him, I'd also say he needs to add more strength and weight.
