This is the most likely answer, but have we heard anything of the sort?

Even if this kid is Jesus reincarnated as a long-snapper and we want to have him as a scholarship player why offer him in June? Why not treat this situation like we treated Dennis Norfleet last class...offer him right before NSD if we've got a spot open.

This makes absolutely no sense. Sure, MSU stole our preferred walk-on LS with a scholarship offer, but this is just a huge waste. This is what backup TEs are for. The timing is also off, and I can't imagine Brady Hoke and his staff would make this big of a blunder with so much time remaining until NSD. Until I see some sort of confirmation from the coaches, I'm going to assume the reporter got his facts wrong.
