Think we have a really good shot with Fuller Michigan has everything is looking for, but does he want to play where his brother play at VTech or make his own name.

The draw for VT might be too strong, it's the local school and he's had multiple brothers play there, he's been a heavy VT lean for a while.

I agree, but fact still visiting can't hurt. Just look at Mathis he really loved his visit and we were not expecting that.

Yeah, I know, I'm not trying to be pessimistic, just realistic, I also don't see Mathis being in this class when it's all said and done so TFWIW.

Still think VT is very hard to beat, but he may be seeing that his bros weren't all that successful coming out of VT. Vincent Fuller was pretty good for a couple years with the Titans but he never became starter and then declined.

Thanks for clearing that up. It does feel a little bit like Meyer went after too much national talent and left the barn door open in Ohio for this cycle doesn't it? He came in and pulled a coup and snagged 8 commited, or formerly commited players and thought, "hey, this is as easy as I thought it would be", and then let everyone walk around in his backyard this year a bit. Not looking forward to him figuring it out and and trying to rope the state off again.

Agree. OSU has plenty of talent already, so it's not the end of the world, but it seems Urbie bought a little too much into his own hype as the rockstar recruiter who can land anyone he wants. He has been circling back with more Ohio/Midwest offers lately but many of the top tier prospects are either already taken or leaning elsewhere. It will be interesting to see how he closes this year. My guess is they will have a top 10 class, but it won't be close to what most OSU fans were predicting just a couple of months ago. And it will be several spots behind ours.

As a sparty I hate admiting it but I think you guys will have the top rated class this year. It almost seems inevitable at this point. There is just no way even a Texas or Alabama could have as many top 150 players as Hoke got this year.

I like your optimism but those guys are really going to clean up down the stretch, especially Bama.

    Hello, gentlemen, its me again.

I've been trying to cut back on my general postings lately but had to throw in my 2 cents on this topic.

I don't think you guys are giving yourselves enough credit by saying Meyer was sleeping at the wheel and that's how you got all these great OL recruits. We offered most of them, and the ones that went to ND for that matter, but you guys won the battles due to some combination of having the ability to get in on them much earlier, historical Michigan ties / fandom and winning some hand to hand combat in the trenches. You could argue the same for Thomas and partially D Smith. On the other hand, I don't think we prioritized a lot of the other offers the way you did, including Gedeon and also the other part of the D Smith loss. Then, of course, there are the guys we didn't offer. I honestly don't think we ever were going to offer them unless they showed the staff something that changed their minds. Some of it was due to prioritizing different skillsets and the other part having different views on skill levels.

Anyways, we've talked about all those issues in the past. I would love to make a purely friendly wager to spice things up on where our respective classes end up for anyone that is interested because I think OSU closes out strong. I think you guys will close out strong, as well, though I think when the dust settles the OSU class will be better. It will be interesting to say the least.

Because there will be be class size differences, I'd propose the following methodology, which I think is fair, but I'm open to ideas. The math would be to examine the higher total team ranking and also the higher average rankings when all is said and done on Scout, 247 and Rivals. So there would be 6 different win/loss criteria. Whoever wins the majority of the criteria would be the ultimate winner. Ties are possible, though we can talk about tie breakers if you're interested.

It may be just me but having the #1 ranked class and having the #4 ranked is marginal and just splitting hairs. national championships are correlated to having a top class but not the top.class, bama's championahip team was made up of classes that was never higher than 3. So Ohio may end up with a higher ranked class but we won't be too far behind and vice versa. So others may want to get in a friendly wager but we know its about what happens on the field with that talent.

I still think it's way too early to make a realistic guess at who will have a better class. Right now Ohio has 9 fewer commits, and the current commits at both schools will probably move either up or down at least a little bit. For instance I think Smith for Michigan, and Thompson for Ohio will both move up a decent amount.

Good post for a buckeye haha I honestly don't think ohio is going to finish higher than Michigan this year. Michigan should really close the class out with nothing but 4 stars the way it looks right now. It seems to me like Meyer has made two offers to me the past few weeks I don't know if they are commitable or not(Worley, and Sprinkle). I really hope those guys would commit and take up space in your class because I think they are reaches quite honestly espically this early in the process.

I really don't care if they finish above us. We might finish our class with mostly 4 stars, but you never know how OSU is going to close.

IMO, it is all going to come down to which recruits fill up the last 3 spots.

  • I don't care which class is ranked higher. We both know we'll be in the top 10, but I think the integrity of our commits is really something to look at down the road. It will pay dividends for us...just wait and see.

At least going by Rivals' rankings, this isn't true...almost half of the #1 recruiting classes since the beginning of the BCS era have won a national championship.

And Alabama's team last year had 3 #1 classes on it...

Hard to beat Bama if they do get Nkemdiche AND Foster, in addition to all their other top players. Not to mention...have you seen how many top players Texas already has committed?

UM will definitely be up there, but I wouldn't put money on them being #1.
