  • It sounds like Tracy Sprinkle committed to Ohio. I'm shaking in my boots!

Does that come with a cherry on top?

lol in all seriousness, he's a good player. With all the DL studs you brought in last year, that wasn't a huge need. Good pickup

But we have 17 commits! In all honesty though if he signed with you guys Meyer must have seen something he liked lol.

  • This is a reply over on bucknuts regarding Sprinkle....I think he was talking about Michigan, and just the other day I saw many opinions on how stupid we were for filling up our class so early and fast:

I'm glad he committed and I'm glad Urban is putting the pressure on guys to commit early or lose their spot because it is just going to create a precedent for the future. In a few years we could be seeing our recruiting classes filled out before summer is over just like Texas does it. Recruits will learn that when you get a scholarship offer from tOSU you better take it. I think that is a good strategy because you can then focus on the next years recruiting class and basically have a year head start on everyone else.

Haha. Thanks. A lot of guys at Bucknuts are questioning this offer. Just like you guys, when you might pick up an -under-the-radar type of guy, you always trust the coaches. I know we always poke fun at each other for lower rated recruits, but in the end it's how the coaches develop them. That's the fun of it all is seeing these guys make a name for themselves.

    ImperialBuckeye

  • Wonder if they take 2 more Dlinemen if they only take 1 in say Bosa that opens up Hurst and Munger for us.

Is there a chance Sprinkle would redshirt? I know that Meyer said he doesn't believe in redshirting, but with some of the DL in front of him it seems like him redshirting might be a good idea.

Yes he will redshirt....many flaws can be worked on with a RS based on his tape

There's a possibility of him redshirting. I don't know what Meyer meant by him not believing in redshirting. Does he believe that all players should play, or does he only see redshirts as a last resort if there's depth? I don't really know. But Sprinkle does seem like a guy who appears to be a redshirt candidate. But there's no way of telling until they get on campus. I know the OSU coaches Vrabel/Fickell -- Meyer want to keep a 2-deep rotation at all times of 9-10 guys. So, there's maybe more of an opportunity to be at least on the 2-deep.

I saw the interview on Meyer when he was talking about redshirts....like Michigan, he plans on playing players irrespective of their age, and not sitting players out just for the sake of saving a year of eligibility. But inevitably there will be redshirts, because some players will not be good enough to play or be apart of the depth rotation. On a side note, I'm glad Ohio picked up Sprinkle. Sure he may be able to develop over the next 4 years, but his tape is rather unremarkable and seems to be like a low 3*

  • That's weird that Meyer is circling back to Ohio now to give out more offers and to pick up some commits.

    buttesnake

  • Tracy Sprinkle is a (very?) good pick-up for Ohio/Meyer. I think that he was underrated but I also recognize that he wasn't a priority given Ohio's DLine haul in the precious recruiting class. Still, he should add good depth.

If by "weird" you mean "predictable" and "amusing to watch", I agree.

  • Here are some things I've read recently.

    1. Michigan is filling up too fast. Just look what has happened to Texas recently.
    2. Michigan is giving out way too many offers. I took a dump this morning and Hoke promptly gave it an offer.
    3. Michigan has a lower star average, and they're filling up on lesser, regional talent. Meyer recruits nationally.
    4. Michigan can only recruit OL. Meyer took 4 WDEs in the last class, so what?

Don't forget it's much harder to have a higher average with almost twice as many players. And we do...

    7. Michigan is carpet bombing, Meyer only recruits the best of the best

And on the Tracy Sprinkles commit...
    I really wanted "Butt Sprinkles".

4 WDEs? Schutt is a DT/Nose Guard. Adolphus could play SSDE if he gets bigger, many think he will in a few years. Sevon was getting most of his reps at SSDE before he just got hurt. Noah will play WDE for sure. Bosa and Hurst will be it, for now. I think the staff will still continue to keep in touch with Michael Hill a DT from south carolina who said we lead for him. Depending on transfers and guys leaving early for the pros (Jonathan Hankins), we may take one more.

What's funny is the only reason Michigan fans are overemphasizing the rankings right now is because some of Bucknuts crazier members were convinced that Meyer wouldn't sign any three star prospects, and all of the recruits he would go after would only be in the top 100. Which is unrealistic, no matter who the coach is lol.
