2013 Recruiting Hotlist

Honestly, I think we're done. Sounded like Smythe's ND visit went really well this weekend, so I think even if he doesn't get admitted to Stanford, we're behind ND for him.

I also can't think of another recruit that we'd target with that last scholarship. At this point, just bank it. I have a feeling 2014 is going to be a special, special class.

That's what we thought last year as well before Henry and Norfleet. We'll see if the staff picks up interest in Edwards or Redding.

I think we should be done, though

Officially committed to the University of Notre Dame! #IrishMob13 #ND

That is fine with me. If we can hold on to Poggi, I say we call it a class, and move on to 2014.

  • Agreed, if we can hold on to Poggi (probably will) this class turned out as good as we could've hoped barring 1 super-elite WR. Good pick up for ND, this kid looks to be pretty damn good.

  • Subject to everyone faxing in their commitment in a couple weeks, including Mr. Poggi, I'm assuming this class is done. Congratulations to Coach Hoke and his team on another fantastic class.

  • I'm going to say a bad word....Laquon Treadwell.

I was thinking about this Saturday, when we got D.Green. I thought how even more awesome this class would have been if we had nabbed Treadwell as well. So what Happened?

The way I see it, we were leading and he got away. IIRC at one point he said he wasn't feeling the UM love from the coaches.

IMO I think Hoke and Co. are looking for certain types of kids to really bring back quality Michigan Men back to the program. Much like Yuri Wright, I think LT's behavior on the social media kind of had them backing off a bit. He seemed to be loving the spotlight and it was about ego stroking. The whole video with Sam Webb before the Opening at the airport had everyone thinking he was moments away from committing. Maybe they reached out at that point and he still fed them the taking his time thing.

You look at a kid like Green and the way he handled himself throughout the process. Quality. Something about Treads turned off our coaching staff, by his own words that he hadn't heard from them in awhile.

If you want be apart of what Hoke is building you dont play games. We only want people who want to be Wolverines to play here. shrug What say you?

I think we fooled ourselves into thinking that we had a better chance than we ever did.

As awesome as it would have been to get Treadwell (we'd have a top-5 QB, RB, and WR in one class...holy balls), I think he was really just looking for reasons not to go to Michigan once Standifer didn't qualify. I think we all underestimated the bond between those two. For someone to visit one school at least half a dozen times, name them the leader for months and still not commit, I have to imagine that they're just in a holding pattern looking for something else that appeals to them more.

While I think our coaches may have backed off a little bit, everyone knows WRs are divas. I don't think our coaches would turn down a talent like Treadwell just because he hogged the spotlight. If anything, I think Treadwell's desire to find a reason NOT to go to Michigan led him to inflate his sense of "not feeling the love" from the coaches.

When he's getting interviewed by a different Michigan writer every other day and obviously loving the attention, its easy for that to happen.

Yeah, I completely agree. It's an unfortunate cycle - he keeps giving interviews, people keep interviewing him, and we just get more and more excited.

  • WRs aren't the only ones who can act like divas. Because he was presumed to be an M lock and because so much of the class filled so early, a lot of people started acting entitled about him and he took a lot of abuse on message boards (which he might not have/probably didn't see) and on twitter (which he absolutely did see) because he wouldn't "just commit already." I don't know how much of a role all that actually played in him dropping us, but if I were in his shoes it would have bothered me a fair bit.

    Any word on Poggi?

I live in the south and this morning on the radio here locally it did say that him and his father were in the Tuscaloosa area but is was not for a visit. Whoever was on the radio basically said that Poggi is still a Michigan lock thats where he wants to go and all the Bama message boards and media should just accept the fact. Just re laying what was on the the radio this morning.

Good to hear. Based on everything I ever heard about Poggi, he wasn't the type of kid to make his decision lightly. The reason he took so long was to make sure that he wanted Michigan over Alabama, and considering the only thing that has happened since then is we added the best RB in the nation, I can't imagine any catastrophic events have changed his mind.

I agree with this but for a different reason. I think when looking at treadwell you have to look at the bigger picture. For instance, RB was also a big position of need and we had a number of top RB targets visit UM, Isaac, smith, Wilkins, and green to name some. But then look at WR, outside of treadwell we only had Devon Allen visit. I think you have to consider the fact that playing receiver for UM was just not that appealing to treadwell just like it wasn't appealing to all the other WR targets that had offers but didn't visit. All targets saw or related to UM was a denard offense, We didn't showcase our new offense until late in the season and even then it wasnt as clean as it will be this coming fall. WRs were just not into us, that's ok because I think we will be fine wih the guys we got and our offense will be more exciting to watch and will attract WRs in 2014.

I want to know what the paywall stuff about Poggi is all about. Is he flippin or not. Nothing special about that info.

It's mostly speculation. Not much in the way of facts. It's still a waiting game.

  • Too bad that Jason Hatcher has never expressed any serious interest in Michigan or I would say that our coaches should be all over him.

I think Tyner has him beat, but yup lol

I wouldn't be surprised if the coaches contact Kenton Gibbs if this Poggi thing bites us in the ass.

Green is considerably better than Elliot, so I definitely wanted the Green commitment more, but this would be hilarious.

I'm monitoring the local news like Rico, I know a bunch of people here who would be incredibly happy if he stayed home. Hopefully DGB can also sway him - when the best recruit in the country stays home at Mizzou, it means something.
