Do you know where he was at?

I'm really wishing I could see his time compared to other backs who attended the event.

He didn't run at The Opening or any official Nike event. Seems kinda weird to me.

I went through the database for all Nike events and here are some times from our commits/targets.

Take into account that it doesn't say when these times were run... To put these times into perspective a guy like Holland Fischer who is an elite guy. Turned in a 4.70 and 4.72.

    Delano Hill 4.45
    Ross Douglas 4.50
    Corey Holmes 4.56
    Jourdan Lewis 4.68

Wheatley is a great RB coach. Hart still hasn't proven himself yet as a coach. If FJ were to retire now, I would only offer Wheatley the job and not Hart but in time that may change.

Wheatley is the best and will take the RB coach position to a new level IMO.

This is exactly why I prefaced that post with "I don't know when these times were run". And I showed an example of a high 4 or 5 star S/OLB running 4.7's.

If it makes you feel better Jalin Marshall (4.66) and Eli Woodard (4.63) also ran in the 4.6's shrug

There's no way that the next Percy Harvin is that slow.

4.6 is fast for a HS senior and most guys get a lot faster after years in a D1 S & C program. IIRC Patrick Peterson ran like a 4.5 or a 4.6 as a HS senior and ended up running a 4.29 at his pro day.

If that number is legit for Delano imagine how fast this guy is going to be in a couple of years. I hope he gets a shot at corner.

    Don't get too excited.

This is the scouting report (from a rival site) for a soon to be redshirt junior:

"At almost 6’3” and weighing close to 200 lbs, _______ is one of the fastest players in the state (4.3 forty). With his versatility and athleticism he can take away half the field in coverage, lock up on a wide receiver, crowd the line in run support or blitz."

    Know who?

Gotta be Josh Furman, but what does that have to do with Delano? When people talked about Furman playing running back, scouting people quickly fired back that he ran too upright and didn't have the wiggle to play RB. Kind of the same issues he has had at safety right? He still has 2 years left though and some guys just take longer to develop, especially if they miss a lot of practice due to legal issues prior to the season. Delano's scouting report seems very different from Furman. I believe Clint watched him at The Opening and said he had great hips and agility to go with his speed.

Well, that same other site lists hip flexibility as an area of improvement for Delano, but my point is to not get too excited about those common measurables.

Those metrics may tell you a lot about what type of player Delano will be, but aren't too helpful for overall quality. I think offer sheets (while still problematic) are a much better guideline for how good a recruit is and how excited we should be.

What's the difference between 3 and 5? I'm sure he knows where he is going, especially by the time of his announcement. Everyone knows Oregon is trailing far behind the pack.

If I were a recruit I'd have two hats. A hand on each one. Make it real dramatic.

If he picks a Michigan hat I may have to change my mind about hat parties.
